Shayna Unger is a deaf mountaineer, educator, storyteller raised in the deaf community. She is the first deaf woman to summit Mount Everest and has climbed several of the world’s highest peaks, including Lhotse, Makalu, Manaslu, Kangchenjunga, and Denali. Beyond the summits, she works to expand accessibility, representation, and opportunity for deaf and hard of hearing communities in the outdoors.
