Winter is made up of layers. That first white blanket falls, the foundation of every season, and the snow stacks up. These layers end up being a daily history of extreme wind, temperature, and moisture. ​

We weren’t made to be in places like this, in weather like this. We would have been a woolly mammoth, impervious to cold. We would have been a wild horned goat, durable and nimble. We would have been an eagle or a wolf or a bear. But we aren’t. So we adapt in order to remain wild. ​

Just like winter, we stack up our own layers to adapt to the cold and the wet, the wind and the gnarl. A fuzzy fleece, a down-filled jacket, a waterproof shell. Because we are meant to be here.
