MOUNTAIN HARDWEAR
MAKES DURABLE
PERFORMANCE
EQUIPMENT THAT GIVES
YOU THE CONFIDENCE
TO TRY, GROW, AND
EVOLVE OUTDOORS.

It’s a place where real, lived experiences in the mountains come together wisely in the form of world-class product design. With a little grit and lot of fun, like-minded, free-thinking people band together, seeking our own path to building better outdoor gear. And the folks here tend to stick around.

Since 1993, our focus has always been on the mountain, not the masses. We continue to follow our ‘Everything is Equipment’ product North Star, designing first and foremost for pursuits that get your heart pumping so loud you can hear it—the kind you only have when you head out into wilder places. Those times when you feel really, truly alive.

We make gear that works because, out here, it matters.

We do it for ourselves, our own adventures, and the ones we dream of having. We do it for the wilder path we hope you choose. From employee product testing trips to feedback sessions with athletes, mountain guides, and our in-house team of sewers, we are constantly foraging information from first-hand sources to create something that lasts.

Together, we meticulously study every stitch. We sweat every seam, fuss over fibers, and split hairs over hues and the how-it-looks. And then, we head out, and we play. Hard.

HOW WE WORK
ENGINEER
FOR THE
EXPERIENCE
For 30 years, we have built essential equipment for climbers, mountaineers, and
outdoor athletes and have supported expeditions on the world’s highest peaks.
Relentless precision continues to inspire everything we do — our designers sweat
every stitch and detail to continuously improve function, durability, and comfort.

HOW WE WORK
THINK

FREELY
Questions excite us, giving us permission to experiment
outside the bounds. We poke and prod to envision new
ways of making and being beyond conventions and
stereotypes. At Mountain Hardwear, we work to create a
reality in which everyone feels empowered to explore
what they’re capable of in the outdoors.

HOW WE WORK
MAKE
IT LAST
We are dedicated to preserving nature. For us, that
means creating fewer things that stand the test of
time. We use recycled materials, re-engineer old
products into new creations and repair old gear
because durability is sustainability.

HOW WE WORK
CREATE
TOGETHER
As outdoor people ourselves, we know a lot about equipment,
but we don’t assume to know it all. We nurture a feedback
loop with our community of climbers, alpinists, mountaineers,
skiers, snowboarders, trail runners and campers. We bring
people in, listen closely and iterate together to make
products and build initiatives that work for all of us.
2023 OUTSIDE BEST PLACES TO WORK logo
We are all proud to be part of Mountain Hardwear. We like our small-company feel, team orientation, down-to-earth approach and casual get-after-it atmosphere. Many of us get outside as much as possible, test our product, challenge ourselves, and stay connected to the outdoor joy and friends that led us into this field.

In work and outdoors, Mountain Hardwear helps people find and push the edges of their potential, grow beyond what they thought is possible, and evolve into their best selves.

You’ll find our Bay Area office at the historic Ford Point, formally the Ford Motor Company Assembly Plant, in Richmond, California.

Inside, we have, at the heart of our company, our in-house Warranty & Repair Center, where a team of world-class sewers are hard at work to repair everything we can.

Under all the buzz—the coffee grinder churning, keyboards typing, sewing machines humming, and the occasional bark of dogs saying hello—you’ll hear the chatter of stories. Behind everything we do is our own real-life experiences.
