Wraith™ -20° F / -28° C (Regular) is rated 4.9 out of 5 by 10.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Bag! This sleeping bag is bomber, and packs down surprisingly small for having a shell. Compressing it, I am able to fit it in the bottom of my 65L Gregory pack just fine and still have room for all of my other gear that needs to go in. The added weight, when comparing competitors' bags of similar fill power and temperature rating, definitely comes from the shell, but I wouldn't trade that for anything, as it can double as an emergency bivvy out in the elements and also saves the down from getting wet if there is a condensation problem within the tent. The materials used for the shell feel very durable, and even though I am still careful with it to keep from tearing anything, I don't feel that I necessarily NEED to be super careful. I have not had a chance to test it at or below 0 degrees yet, but have used it a few times in below freezing temperatures (with proper sleeping pad insulation and a 4-season tent) and was very comfortable. I will throw in a disclaimer that I am a very cold sleeper, so with mid-weight merino top and bottom, a hat, thick socks and down booties, and a couple of hand warmers tossed in, this bag provided amazing warmth for a frigid little person such as myself and I would be 100% confident taking this on a trip where the temperatures dipped below 0 degrees. Being only 5'3", however, I was surprised at how small this bag felt. It claims that the interior length for the Regular is 78 inches (fit for a 6'6" person), but I feel there is significantly less wiggle room than what is listed on the spec sheet. I was still able to put a couple bulkier things at the bottom of the bag to keep them from freezing, but definitely not 15 inches of room as advertised with regards to my height. A coworker of mine, who is 6'0", ordered the Long after hearing my feedback and agreed that the bag feels smaller than it should. So, my recommendation would be to size up if you're on the cusp of the Regular's height recommendation. Not that I'm complaining, personally, because that's less dead space for my body to try and warm up since this bag doesn't come in any shorter sizes, but just throwing that out there as a general warning to anyone considering purchasing this sleeping bag. The only thing that could make this bag even better than it already is would be to push the fill power to 850+ for weight and space savings, but that's a minor critique. I have been extremely happy with my purchase and look forward to more winter backpacking trips with it! Job well done, Mountain Hardwear!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just Right I've used the Wraith on K2, Everest and more. I find it the right combination of weight, warmth and comfort. Highly recommended.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worry about other things There is a lot to think about when going into the mountains, and the last thing I want to worry about is being cold at night. This bag is insanely warm and lofty, but packs down to the size of a normal high end 0º bag. There is plenty of room inside of the bag to place "extras," such as puffy layers and ski boot liners. The pull cord and inner cuff work wonders- The photo was taken after waking up with no tent after a 10ºF, 60+mph wind night. I will continue to use this bag and have peace of mind on my future adventures.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Bought it again I used this bag as my primary bag on successful summits of K2 and Annapurna I. When my sleeping bag and down suit were in a bag that got lost by an airline, I didn't hesitate to buy them again for an upcoming expedition on Kanchenjunga. This bag strikes the perfect balance of weight, internal room, weather resistance and cost. It is roomy enough inside to wear a down suit inside the bag. No need for a -40°C bag in the Himalayas. I've used in Alaska and other pretty harsh environments and love it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great All Around Winter Bag I first started looking at this bag because not only did I need a warmer sleeping bag but I also plan on venturing to colder and colder climates as I gain more experience. I also wanted something that would keep up with my ambitions and not force me to purchase another piece of gear down the road. The saying goes.. buy once, cry once.. right?! Since we all know this bag can take us well beyond it's lower limit of -20°, how about some info on it's upper limit? I did a lot of research before buying this bag and one thing I had a hard time finding was the bags upper temperature limit. Since I don't live in a sub zero climate I decided to try the bag out without a tent on a night in the upper 30's. With just a z-lite sleeping pad, the bag and base layers on I was very comfortable in my bivy. I used the lower zipper to vent the bag a bit after getting settled in but after that I dont think I moved an inch all night. I'd have to say it was one of the best night sleep outdoors I've had in the winter. So if your looking for one winter bag to do it all from 30° to - 40° I would highly suggest the Wraith.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Down for Days Got me through a utah winter with winter temps as low as -10F- used 1 season and counting - could not ask for a better winter bag. I'm 5'2 115 lbs and the size (reg) is perfect for me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesomely warm bag I purchased this bag for Aconcagua this year with the hope that it would also prove up to the task for Denali next year. Overall this bag is awesome. Too hot for the approach (as would be expected) but full side zip made things bearable. It was so cold and windy that we were stuck in our tents for a whole day at our 19,000' camp and I was warm and toasty. I definitely believe this bag will be warm enough for Denali. Included stuff sack is nice. Only minus would be that this bag is a little heavy. I'm 5'8" and had plenty of room to stuff my liners and some other goodies with plenty of room.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great expedition bag I have used this bag in some pretty extreme temperatures and its performed great. Its kept me warm on backpacking and ice climbing trips in northern minnesota in the dead of winter, reaching temps well below the rating of -20F and winter nights on a portaledge and it kept me warm. i also used this bag on a 22 day expedition on Denali. I regularly slept with my ipod, camera batteries, .5L thermos and inner boots to keep them all warm and had plenty of space. for reference i am 5 10 160b and purchased a regular.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this bag I've used this bag pretty extensively the last couple of years. Late season sheep hunts in the Brooks Range, Caribou hunting on the North Slope, winter camping during ski/snow machine outings, multi-week trips to the field for work during the middle of AK winter. Has always kept me warm and comfortable thanks to the great breathability. Additionally, I feel it packs down very well and is light weight for a bag that is rated for such low temperatures. Only complaint is the zipper gets stuck on the fabric every now and then...just have to back it up and keep going.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from My choice of sleeping bag for life I've used this in the Cordillera Blanca with temperatures down to 5F. I sleep very cold but I was pretty warm in it. On a camp at 4800m with three in a small tent, we had a lot of condensation but thanks to the DryQ fabric all of the ice was on the shell and I slept super warm that night. Although bulky and with an annoying zipper, it's a versatile bag that can go to a wide range of conditions, and if you're too warm, simply unzip a bit. This is my choice for alpine climbing and mountain environments. I'm 5'5" and the regular felt true to size, even when sleeping in inner boots, although snug around the torso.
