Reviews

Women's Downhill™ Parka is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 13.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Saddened I had tried on size M in this parka and loved it but needed a L so I could layer more easily. The inventory was extremely low so I was excited to get the only one left in large. I love the length, the feminine fit, the warmth, the high neck zip, etc. However when it arrived, it was HUGE. I am 5'6", 130# and swimming in it. I really wanted this parka so went on many other websites as well as visiting several ski shops hoping they would still have one left in stock. No luck. I ski in NE and it gets extremely cold so I am disappointed not to have this stylish parka keeping me warm on the -27 days.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect winter coat! I have been searching for the perfect winter coat for years. I'm 5'9, and always have to deal with sleeves being too short and my wrists exposed to the cold! This coat is so warm (even in single digit with -10 wind chill), the perfect length, and the arms are not too short! I normally wear a size 4-6, ordered a medium, and it fits well with some room for layers. It's has a very flattering shape. I could probably wear a small but I didn't want it to be too snug.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I love this coat Seriously. I love this coat. The length is perfect, the hood fits well, the pockets have the same insulation as the rest of the coat- not just the shell lining, there are thumb holes so the coat stays in place when you put your gloves on. There is a pretty print on the inside and did I mention IT'S SO WARM. I wore this coat with a tank top in 20 degree weather with a wind chill and WAS TOASTY!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic down parka I bought this for my wife and she loves it. 700-fill down is good enough unless your activities are mostly outside. I have tested the fabric, it's real waterproof. I have read all the reviews to make sure this one has hood strings, which is very important, cause the hood is pretty huge. The length is perfect, just covers the butt The sleeve cuff design is a plus. Generally, she does not need gloves. The detachable skirt is another great design. You will not need it for daily wearing, but it will be helpful for skiing. RECCO technology is a must if you ski a lot. It will help the rescue team to find you much easier even under snow. The only thing I can complain is the zippers under arms. It is a great design, but the zippers are pretty stiff. If MHW can change them into some softer version, that will make it a perfect product. Overall, a fantastic down parka for casual and sports wearing.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Exceptional Warmth I tend to be analytical to a fault and spent weeks looking into a new coat. We are anticipating a brutal winter, and my old coat barely held any warmth in 30-40 degree weather. I finally decided on the Downhill Parka, mostly because it was on clearance, this offering better quality/function within my price range! I’m not disappointed: despite many reviews about the underarm zipper causing discomfort, I have not had trouble. I also saw reviews concerning running small, but decided to go with the size chart and ordered a large. If anything, it is a bit too BIG. Entirely comfortable, but has extra poof at the belly area for me, and flips out some at the bottom. Not the flattering figure-enhancing coat I thought it would be, but of course, now the size down is out of stock, so I’ll stick with it. Definitely space for layers. My favorite feature to date are the thumb holes; I never realized how much I would LOVE being able to keep those sleeves just right. Also, it is WARM. I was pleased with how it held up in high winds/20 degree temps, and am hopeful for the rest of the season as well.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Nice warm Parka! It is a very warm Parka: When it arrived, I put it on and felt hot. It feels heavy but has Good Quality and feels durable. I like the pockets too. I am 5'3" and 135 pounds. I ordered a L and it is too small: Especial the arm-pits areas. Also, as the previous reviews mentioned, it is difficult to unzip the jacket. I returned it and ordered a XL. The XL is on the way. I give it 3 stars for now and will give an update after I receive the XL.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from New favorite thing I loath the cold. When I moved to the Pacific Northwest from the south, they told me it never gets cold here. Well... climate change. Ive been freezing for months. Today, another cold front moved in and I decided to go buy a coat long enough to cover my butt. I am a long bodied woman coming in at 5'9 and 130lbs. Most jackets don't cover below the waist and the powder skirts bug me. This jacket (size medium) fits so nicely. I read all the reviews before going to the store and tried on every jacket. I especially love the thumb loop things and deep fleecy pockets. I can put things in my pockets and still have room for my hands. It is insulated very well. The pit zips aren't exactly pit zips. More like bicep zips but they are nice. I also like the tiny pocket on the left wrist. Best purchase ever!!! I can't wait to wear it skiing but this jacket also works great for standing still outside waiting for the kids to get let out of school.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not as great as I hoped This is a good jacket with several really good and some bad features. I know this jacket was designed for skiing, but I got it to wear casually. The jacket is very warm and has lots of pockets. The hood is insulated and warm but the collar is taller than in other jackets so it comes up to my lips. When the collar is zipped up and the hood is down, I feel like the collar/hood is too confining and is too much in my face. There are a couple spots around the top of the zipper in the collar where the stitching makes the fabric tight and rough on my chin. The pit zips also bother me. I'm not sure if the arm holes are smaller or the zippers are just placed poorly, but they feel stiff and feel very noticeable to my inner arms. I have other jackets with pit zips and they never bothered me like these. The cuff has an interior cuff with thumb hole. I know lots of people like these, but I could do without them. I never use the thumb holes and the extra cuff just adds more bulk when layering or with gloves. The Marionberry is as it looks online, sort of a maroon.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from LOVE IT!!! My boyfriend came home with this one day after I tried, and returned, a couple other coats. I never would have got a straight black coat, or a long one for that matter, but I'm soooooo glad he did. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THE DOWNHILL PARKA!!! A Valentine's ski weekend was it's first true cold test. Temps barely touching 0 with 30-40 mph winds made for a VERY frigid weekend, but me, the one who's ALWAYS cold, stayed toasty warm all weekend long! Even unzipped the pits a couples times because I was too hot!! The patterns in the quilting makes the straight black totally attractive (up close it even looks like carbon fiber!) and the longer length keeps my bum warm and dry on the chairs up. I wear a small, but thought the arms, and even the body, had a tiny bit too much extra room, even with a hoodie underneath.
