Rated 5 out of 5 by from SummitRocket 30 alpine bag I have 2 of these Summit packs now. I am a soloist and climb with minimalist gear. Very durable, very light, perfect fit. Designed without excessive useless features. (This review was collected as part of a promotion.)

Rated 4 out of 5 by from It's a bag alright Lemme tell you what. If you're looking for a bag to hold your things and stuff, this is the sack for you. Main compartment is huge and seemingly impossible to fill. The small pouch is also great for knickknacks. It sheds water great, even some pretty intense, consistent rain. Great weight distribution and wicked comfortable to wear.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect "Fast & Light" Summit Pack I've used this on two Mt Hood climbs and it's perfect for going fast and light. It has just enough room for all my items.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Purpose built - Swiss engeneering This pack was part of the Ueli Steck collaboration that MHW designed for the swiss machine and his personal touch to this product is evident. It's minimalist, light weight yet durable and functional for it's intended purpose. I found this pack light enough to pack along with a larger expedition pack on a 7 day ski touring trip in the cascades. That meant I had a small, light technical pack for day trips out from base camp. It handles technical tools, rope, crampons very well. to my suprise it was strong enough to ski carry up steep couloirs. don't expect extra gadgdetry or the latest fluffy pockets for your ear muffs and lip stick (that's called a hand bag and can be purchased seperately) It's built for light weight, fast climbing and it's true to it's purpose. the hardwave frame sheet provides torsional rigidity but longitudinal flex, suitable for lighter loads. wide bucket entry is nice and internal grab loop is appreciated. I think that the people that will appreciate this pack the most are those using it for it's intended purpose.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for 1-3 day trips Great pack for speed and minimalist-type packing. I can use this pack for 1-3 day trips in the Alps with no need for a larger pack. Great quality.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great product with small issues First of all I am not mountain climber, not yet at least although I intend to be. I bought it for fast and light mountain backpacking. 30L is more than enough - this bag is incredibly roomy! it's very convenient to carry regardless the overall weight of the content and... it's extremely lightweight! I can however confirm what the other guy said in the previous review - straps get loos regardles special design of buckles - not much of a fuss if you're just scrambling but when climbing this can be a huge issue. The quality controll should be better. I bought one and returned it after five minutes in a shop - there was a rip in a sewing. I took another piece and it was fine... but after one use I noticed again a rip in a sewing - very tiny one and not getting bigger but still... Lastly - MWH logo is cool but is not sealed - the pack has some waterproofing (little but still) but waters comes easily through the MWH logo - I will need to seal it. Can't say much about durability - I used it just a few times but reinforeced dyneema looks very tough - a pity the whole pack is not made of it but then again the weight would not be so tempting. Overall seems to be rather tough.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Meh Disappointing in the basics, and that is really all this pack has to offer. Main complaint is the super light and thing straps slide loose so the shoulder straps constantly slip. The "frame sheet" is almost useless and buckled on the first packing. The color portions of the pack are super thine and not very durable. Tool attachments are impossible to use with gloves. I would have returned it but I cut off the useless hip belt. As I expected the pack is super light and the white dyneema fabric is very durable.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from LIght and Tough I am replacing an old summit pack that was ruined from too much 4th class abuse. I wanted something light and flexible enough to strap on or stuff inside my big pack, but still sturdy. This pack is nothing if not light, flexible, and tough. It seems the right size for a big summit day and is streamlined to avoid snagging while climbing our on short hauls. The only down side is that it doesn't carry as well as a more structured pack, so it will probably not be the pack I'd pick for a day climb or hike. That said it could work for day outings with lightweight gear and a good packing job.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Day Pack This day pack is ultra light and offers good amount of space to add everything from the picnic blanket to food. I used it to hike Shenandoah just recently and it was very comfortable for a 6 hour hike.
