Rated 1 out of 5 by from Cheap Materials and poor warranty-Only lasted 4 trips I purchases the South Col Backpack for taking on big mountain trips. Worked fine on the first 3, but one the 4ths the area around the opening started to delam and fall apart. Then I would not be able to close it all the way. Warranty would not cover it, called it "Wear and tear" Buy another brand with better warranty.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent ski mountaineering pack I did considerable research to replace a 20+ yr old worn out Wild Things Ice Sac for multi day hut to hut ski touring and 3-4 day summer mountaineering trips. Criteria had to include lightweight, durable, close fitting, trim so as not to interfer with arm movements such as ski pole strides, non-bulky waist belt, attachment points for mountaineering hardware and a large enough kangaroo type pocket for a shovel blade. This last point is tough to find in packs like this. This pack delivers in all categories. It is very well thought out, and exceptionally constructed. And to make it even better, it's very weather resistant. I highly recommend it. My only suggestion for improvement would be to include a haul point on the front of the pack, but that's minor. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Pack, Lightweight Excellent Pack, super lightweight and able to carry heavy loads. Splitboard ,boots, sleeping bag, tent, pad, food, appropriate, clothes, water and camera equipment were no problem for this bag on a 16 mile roundtrip hike. I am 5'10/'11 165lbs and the small medium was the perfect size. Just about maxing it out

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Favorite Alpine pack This pack, along with the 50L Direttissima pack, is my favorite pack to use in alpine environments. They are very durable, mostly waterproof or water resistant, and have the just the number of features I'm looking for. What I like most about this pack, and what makes it unique, is the removable plastic frame. I take that out and use my deflated air mattress as a soft frame instead to save some space.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good looking bag. Even though the excellent material and exterior very useful features, the interior becomes bulky at the bottom.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Backpack Ever I Have used this backpack on multiple trips now and it has never let me down. I went to Leavenworth for 2 day and fit everything I needed plus it keep eve thing dry when we were setting up camp in a flash rain storm.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Almost Perfect Just used the pack on a short backpacking trip. More than enough room for my food, tent, sleeping bag and pad, cook kit, stove, fuel, water, clothes. Got wet, but everything inside stayed dry. I am 5' 9" / 165lb and the S/M was a perfect fit for me. If the side pockets on the outside bottom left and right were a little bit bigger I would have been able to stick my fly rod tube in there. It would have been nice if these pockets were just a bit bigger.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Perfect Pack I didn't think I would be so happy about a pack. After researching and interrogating my friends for months I opted for the Outdry and it has been the best decision. Waterproof: Sure you can throw everything into a garbage bag or some dry sacks, but why? Can't fit everything in the tent or under the rainfly? Just leave it out. Worry free. Organizable: It looks super pretty when fully loaded. Tons of straps too. Comfy: I've had it fully loaded for a couple multi-day trips and have yet to find it uncomfortable. Compressible: I don't often need 70L, this pack is very accommodating if I want to drop volume. Cons: The single large compartment having a single access requires more thoughtful packing. No drink pockets or camel pack pocket are easily overlooked (I hang a bottle from the gearloop) You will not regret buying this. If you are unsure about size I think the 70 with its versatility is a solid route to go.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent big-trip mountaineering pack I recently used this pack for some extended outings in the North Cascades of WA, and was extremely happy. With mountaineering packs, the comfort is decent enough but none of them will be a robust load hauling system at under 4lbs a pack. You have to pack light and be okay with good, not luxurious comfort while carrying. This pack was absolutely good enough up to 55-60lbs. What really makes this pack great is the fully waterproof main compartment and mountaineering-specific features. The tool/axe holders were great, the crampon pouch is perfect, and the single outer pocket is more than enough for those easy access items like a shell top, gloves, belay jacket, food, extra water, etc. The drawcord closure on top is exactly what you want on the mountain. I've seen zippered bags come open and result in loss of essential equipment, like crampons, halfway up. Experienced mountaineers will likely not even notice the lack of hydration pouch/ports, water bottle holders, organizational pockets, etc. None of those are really needed. Two complaints only. The outer side pockets are tiny, could be a touch bigger, would make pickets feel more secure. lastly, the top pouch could use the outdry treatment too.
