Phantom™ Spark Down 28°F / -2°C Sleeping Bag is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 13.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great product, but a little narrow This sleeping bag is awesome. I love the weight and packability, and it’s true to its comfort rating. My only struggle was that it felt narrower in the shoulders that sleeping bags usually do for me. I’m 5’9” and in shape, so I mostly only take up room long ways. It wasn't like a straight jacket or anything, but I definitely found it more easy to get tangled up in this sleeping bag. However, when I got comfortable early on, I didn’t have to move around as much, so I didn’t get tangled. Other thing– the material is pretty slick, so trying to inch worm around on my relatively slick sleeping bag to readjust my position was a little bit if a struggle. In general though, both of those complaints are things that will happen to some degree in any sleeping bag, so while this one is just a tad more snug, the weight, warmth, and pretty color still make it a great purchase.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fabulous sleeeping bag We now own 2 of these and couldn’t be happier with them. Perfect sleeping bag for warmth, comfort and function in our typical camping conditions .

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Leaking Down!! Was sold this bag and told it would last for years. Now down is leaking out of the seams even with careful and proper use. Warranty is now saying its normal. I have had this issue with one other bag in all my years and that company recognized the issue and fixed it properly, I guess I will have to go back to that company.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Phantom Spark Sleeping Bag I am a professional Guide working in the New England states. I bought a Phantom Spark this spring and have used it all summer in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. It has gone over Mount Washington with me and everywhere else. I love this bag for summer. It is very light weight and packs small. It has kept me warm and comfortable all summer in the mountains. In hot weather I use it opened up as a quilt. Down to the forty degree range I zip it up. And in the thirty's I wear a puffy jacket in the bag. I am 5'10'' and 150 lbs, this bag fits me very well. When this bag wears out, I will buy another Phantom Spark. I do not think I could find a better bag anywhere.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I'd buy it again Absolutely loved it. As advertised, it's a snug fit so no cold pockets in the bag. First night out, my bear-can froze shut but I stayed cozy warm. The next day it poured on me and my bag was wet in the evening, but with some long-johns on, the bag kept me warm enough to get some sleep. When I woke up a couple hours later, my bag was warm and dry.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from AWESOME BAG Used this bag multiple times in different climates. Fits true to size, very comfortable to sleep in. The down really makes a difference along with the fabric used to line the bag, It doesnt stick to the skin, and you dont wake up in a pool of sweat. Id sleep in the bag every night instead of my bed if I could. Im 5'7" 160lbs and its still roomy. Used it at 8000' feet at temps in the mid 20s, slept fine with a good base layer. Wouldnt recommend pushing it past 20 though. Solid 3 season bag below 10000'. Comes with its own stuff sack and storage bag. Thinking about grabbing one, do it. You wont be disappointed. Pros: Very light weight, packs down to the size of a nalgene bottle, warm for the weight, highly breathable, baffling makes it able to shift down to where you need it, super comfy. Cons: Could use a bit more down for side sleepers, but can be mitigated easily with a VPL or decent base layer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice Bag I took this bag cowboy camping in New Orleans for 3 nights during Mardi Gras. The first night was in the Mid-60's and it was too warm. The next night was Mid-50's and still a little warm. The last night was Upper 40's and really comfortable. The only complaint I have, is that I wish the zipper went all the way around the bottom of your feet. That way you can unzip, and let your feet hang out.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic Sleeping Bag Note: I specifically own the Phantom 32, but all of the features of the 32 seem to carry over directly to the Spark 28, so I hope this review can still be found useful by potential buyers. I've owned my bag for close to three years now, using it as my go-to sleeping bag for backpacking, canyoneering, sea kayaking, and whitewater pursuits. Down bags are generally terrible for water-related activities - I usually pack with me a Hyper Lamina Spark for paddling trips, but on a whim, I decided to give my Phantom bag a go. So far, it has worked very well. I generally sleep out cowboy style, as I live in the Southwest and rain is rarely an issue. Even when the temperatures drop or I'm close enough to a water source leading to condensation on the bag, I haven't had an issue with moisture negatively impacting my sleep quality. Moisture will build up inside the shell, but after an hour of airing out the bag, it dries out quickly and still retains its loft. While in the Sawtooth Mountains of Idaho, I realized in the morning that a Nalgene bottle had spilled and soaked the footbox of my bag, but I couldn't feel the moisture while inside the bag at all. An hour in direct sunlight dried out the bag almost completely. The bag compresses down almost to the size of a Nalgene bottle - my Thermarest pad is bigger when packed down. When space is a premium, this bag is incredible. I've used the bag at the Grand Canyon in temperatures down in the mid 20s without issue, even when sleeping out without a bivy or tent. I'm a warmer sleeper in general, which does contribute, of course, but the snug cut of the bag eliminates cold spots and with a simple baselayer of clothing on, I sleep nice and toasty. Again, the cut of the bag is snug. I'm broad in the shoulders, so overall I tightly fit inside the bag when laying directly on my back, but at 5'8", I still have plenty of room with the regular length to squeeze down into the bag and shift around. If you're a side sleeper, I would advise against the performance mummy cut style bags. When I first used the bag, I was concerned the 10D shell would be too delicate to handle anything but the most sensitive of handling, but it's a surprisingly tough fabric with abrasions and general use. It's even handled an energetic 90 lb black lab running all over it without a single scratch. The body zipper can get snagged, but it's been a rare occurrence overall and it's an easy fix. I've owned a variety of bags from various brands over the past 20 years and found that they all have a snag issue to some degree, so I don't hold this issue against the product. My only real gripe with the bag concerns the zippered collar pocket. I would like it big enough to hold a cell phone - as it is, it really isn't big enough to hold anything larger than a watch. I love my Phantom. I use it exclusively and would highly recommend it to anyone in the market for a lightweight, packable, and warm down bag.
