Phantom™ Flame Down 15°F / -9°C Sleeping Bag is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 11.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best bag I have ever owned. I used this bag on a solo deer hunting trip here in southeast Alaska back in November during our cold snap. I spent nine nights total in the bag with six or seven of those nights with the temps getting down to 20 degrees Fahrenheit. This bag performed great. I did not once get cold and I slept comfortably all night, every night. This sleeping bag really did made a big difference in my trip. I am a larger dude at 5'10", 240 pounds and when I initially purchased the bag I was concerned that I might not fit me. But, it fit me perfectly. There was plenty of room but not too much. I could not be happier with this sleeping bag and I look forward to many great trips with it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Under the stars I work as Wildland firefighter on a hotshot crew and this is my go to bag! We rarely use tents and it keeps me warm on the really cold nights. It also keeps me surprisingly dry on the nights we wake up with our sleeping bags sopping wet with dew.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cozy and light This bag also offers an excellent warmth to weight ratio. It is very well designed and made. The added water resistance treatment to the down is a real benefit here in the Pacific northwest. I am 6' tall, 175 lbs and the regular fits me just perfectly. Although it is a mummy, the midsection is relatively roomy and doesn't leave you feeling claustrophobic. I would highly recommend this bag. (This review was collected as part of a promotion.)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect This is my 3rd MHW bag, and I thought my first 2 were amazing, but this one went above and beyond... Lightweight, great fit, smoothest zipper ever. Way more than I could have hoped for. Stoked to put a thousand nights in it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quality Bag Used on an open bivvy on Mt. Adams in Sept. Also used on Rainier, Baker, Hood, etc. No complaints, it does it's job at a light weight. Quality bag at an expected price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great features, super light/compact I love this bag, I sleep warm and used this on a recent trip to the High Sierra where were were hit with rain, hail and snow as well as sleeping on 12 feet of snowpack at 10,000ft a couple evenings in below freezing temps. The q-shield technology really makes its mark when combined with the Ghost UL tent line where condensation can sometimes be an issue. This bag makes up for the minor tent issue by keeping its warmth and drying out lightning quick in the mornings with just a little sun or wind. As a photographer people always ask how I get my batteries to last when camping in winter conditions, it is a constant battle to keep the batteries as warm as possible, so I have always had to sleep with them in my pockets. With the genius interior design of the bag there are not one, not two, but THREE pockets to store small items close to your body's warmth. I was able to store all the electronics overnight and keep them working longer than expected in such cold conditions. Great work MHW. I highly recommend this bag.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Phamtom Flame I purchased a Phantom Flame bag last year for spring and fall hiking in the mountains. I really like this bag. It is a very light bag for the amount of warmth it provides. I am slim and easily get cold while sleeping. Last fall I would sleep warm all night wearing only a base layer of clothing. I do not know the exact temperature at night , but the beaver ponds were frozen over in the morning. I am 5' 10'' and the regular size fits me well. Because it is warmer than necessary for Summer, I just bought a Phantom Spark for Summer. After a couple of trips with the spark, I am also happy with it. These are lightweight bags and you have to take care of them. As a professional guide I can purchase products below retail pricing. I prefer to use only top quality products, as they are the best buy regardless of price. Mountain Hardware has always done a good job making insulated clothing and bags.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Bag!!! I bought this bag for my wife, and she definitely loves it. We have been shopping for camping gears for years. As one of the BIG THREE, we do spend lots of time to get information online about the sleeping bags. Temperature rate, fit, durability and thermal material, all those key factors need to be considered. Finally, we decided to go for this Phantom Flame 15. First, we won’t do any winter camping, 15 degree is a great choice for a three season’s bag. Second, the down bag is super light, and if you treat it well, the down bag lasts much longer than synthetic bag. Also, the thermal efficiency never drop for a down bag during the compression. Mummy shape minimizes the extra room inside the bag and this also enhance the warmth. Third, my wife really love the color. We haven’t got a chance to take it for a field test, however, she did sleep in it a night in our garden. The lowest was about -2 and it kept her warm. Also the zip design is awesome, it never catch. Yes, 530CAD is not cheap, but a functional, reliable gear will make your trip comfortable. Enjoy it!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Too tight for me This was my third MH sleeping bag purchased and a planned replacement for an older 15 degree MH fiber fill bag. I have loved my Phantom 32 down bag for summer trips (light, highly compressible, functional) and expected this 15 degree bag to function similarly for early/late season trips. However, the bag was way too tight for me (5'-9", 180 lbs). I could not fully zip at the shoulders and there was no way to turn inside the bag. That was a deal killer since I am a side sleeper. I never had problems with the superlight zipper on the Phantom 32, but the heavier zipper on this bag would have been even more durable. The draft collar is a great addition. I'm seriously disappointed to be sending it back, because it looks to be a really nice bag. It is just way too tight a cut for my comfort.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from AWESOME but..... The Phantom series of bags are pretty darned good with all the features MH promotes. My ONLY problem? The outer shell material of the bag is so light, that it keeps getting stuck in the zipper. Not a good thing for those late night bathroom runs requiring expedited egress. Get rid of / change bags? No way! If you buy this bag, "practice makes perfect"! BEFORE you use it on your trip, PRACTICE using the zipper at home, and figure out how to make it work for you. Get in the bag, un-zip and zip as many times as it takes for you to figure it out. YES, I do have a very small tear/rip on the outer shell of my bag caused by the zipper, but nothing a little "tenacious tape" couldn't fix and I could live with. No way did I want to take the time or the trouble to send it back to MH for a repair. So I'm good with what I've got! Again, GREAT bag!
