Optic™ 2.5 Tent is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 18.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Huge tent I know this said 2.5 but it's huge! I am 5'9" and I can kneel on my knees in the tent no problem. My feet have multiple inches below them when I lay out and I would argue it's almost big enough for 3 people. This is not a problem - I was just shocked how large it was. Great weight for the size of the tent. I love the pockets it has inside the tent, as well as where the outside zippers are placed. I love that you can unzip the tent and vestibule with similar reaches of your arms, instead of having to unzip the tent, get in the vestibule to unzip the vestibule, then get out of the tent.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Tent! I recently used this as a backpacking tent and I already love it. I would give just one caveat: It isn't meant for extended backpacking trips. As many reviewers have noted, this tent is best used as a car camping tent or for shorter backpacking stints. I did eleven-ish miles round trip and I don't think I would want it for any longer of a trip. For the price and purpose of this tent, it can't be beat. At first I thought having the two doors next to each other was sort of gimmicky, but it's honestly a huge improvement over traditional tent design. It also didn't have much of a problem with condensation like I have had with other tents. I love this product and can't wait to take it out for more trips!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Great tent, but not durable and "lifetime" warrantee comes with strings The tent is relatively lightweight, roomy, easy to set up, and the re-positioned door is a great feature. However, durability is an issue. I've never experience pole failure in a tent before and I was surprised it happened with this tent so early on. Luckily, Mountain Hardwear has a lifetime warrantee. Unfortunately though, that's not really a catch-all. They were willing to only repair certain parts for free. Bottom line: the design of the tent is really great, but I wouldn't expect it to stand up to the elements the way some other brands do.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Missing one feature I really enjoy the design of this tent, and the addition size is great for tall people. But it's missing one thing: the ability to pitch with just the footprint and fly. The addition of a few connection points for the poles on the fly would do it, and you couple have a great desert tent or lightweight version when there are no more bugs. I think the zippers could also be beefed up one size for durability. Overall very decent tent, remember to go with the VUE version if you are going to be camping in cooler temps or places with lots of blowing silt.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome Tent Took this tent to Shenandoah Valley and it worked perfectly. Lightweight and very easy to setup. The side door makes an excellent vestibule to staff shoes, gear etc. The tent was able to acoomodate two people and medium size dog. The side mesh pockets are perfect for stashing gear, i.e. headlamp, that you need easy access to. I would definitely recommend this tent.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Optic 2.5 Excellent tent, used for only me - plenty of room. This tent is everything they said it would be: light weight, compact, easy setup and functional. The footprint for this two-man tent is bigger because of the large fly that extends over the tent creating the dome. But this area is used for storage of gear. Part-time/weekender camper

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Two Person Car Camping Tent Out There I'm a wildlife field tech that annually spends over a 1/3 of the year sleeping in tents. This is the perfect tent for car camping and short (under 2 miles) hikes in. The views are amazing, it's palatial in size, it's made of very durable materials, and every piece is over engineered like you would expect from MH. It's the most livable 2p tent I've seen. All these goodies do result in a ~6lbs weight, so a ultralight tent is still needed for the backcountry.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Great Purchase We had purchased the tent prior to the Memorial Day Weekend for our teenage son. As foretasted the rain began. Right out of the box the tent was assembled with ease in minutes. The fly and tent combination prevented any precipitation from entering the living area of the tent. Our son and his friend fit comfortably inside including a full size air mattress. The tent is accurately designated as a 3 season tent, and the 2.5 sizing is also accurate. This will be a great summer time backpacking tent and look forward to it's use. We'll be purchasing the 3.5 for the boy as he is growing and will need a little more room for the travel training, car camping trips.
