Rated 5 out of 5 by from Not your dads hardshell Ok so apparently hardshells aren't what they used to be. I needed a solid alpine climbing pant and ended up with these. I am a fan of softshells in most situations however I needed something I could put on over my softshells when things got wet or really cold. I was sold at the 7/8 zipper which is a convenience I cant live without for this type of pant. I was pleasantly suprised to find that these pants dont have that hard plastic crinkly feeling hardshells of yesteryear had, they're very supple and move well. Big fan of the stretchy bit on the back of the waste it gives these pants a really nice secure feeling fit without pinching anywhere. Time will tell how they hold up but I'm a bit of a MH fanboy due to their reliable products and awesome customer service, so I'm not worried about it. MH, any chance you're going to put out an EV2 replacement or other lightweight alpine climbing tent? Thanks, you guys and gals make really great products

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fits TIGHT I figured I'd fit into a medium since I normally take a 32x32 pant. NOPE. You want to order a size over the pants you normally wear unless you plan on wearing just the rain pant. Haven't tested these things in the rain yet, but will update when I do. The stretch material is super nice for range of motion.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Getting wet in heavy rain I spent hours to find waterproof and durable shell pants for hiking and mountaineering and finally chose with Mountain Hardwear Superforma. I did few hikes in light rain and it kept me dry very well, but today they failed in heavy rain conditions. Water ran by my jacket on pants and my bottom and hips were wet. Lack of beltloops also is a minus. Pockets almost not usable, for very small stuff only.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Water proof pants I use these pants snowshoeing and i stay completely dry, when i got too warm i just used the ample side vents and i stay comofortable. I also use these when i'm hiking in the rain. good' ol oregon downpoors actually and i have always stayed dry. even without belt loops the pants stay on really well.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from (Super) Superforma I always get tired of putting rain pants on over my hiking pants because I usually avoid it till my pants are already wet. When snowshoeing, my hiking pants always get wet in the back from the snow being kicked up. I tried out the Superformas and they are my new goto winter hiking pants. A pair of thermals under them is all you need. I was dry and warm all day! They are waterproof and breathable. The full length zippers on the sides make them easy to get on over your boots. They fit snugly, so if you're wearing them over pants, get a size larger. My only complaints are that the pockets sit low, just above your knees and there aren't enough of them.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from falls down There is no waistband, and the grey top panel is a super stretchy material. Even with nothing in the pockets, these pants fall down an inch with every step. This is beyond an annoyance, they are entirely unusable without adding belt loops or suspenders.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Bring on the weather This pair of pants fills a gap in my winter/shoulder season arsenal. The fit is excellent, (but definately alpine) I am usually a 32x32 and once I tightened the Velcro waist adjusters, they fit just about perfectly. Quality seems to be tight, and all seams and stitching are clean and trim. Was very surprised at how small these pants pack down & they weigh under a pound. Definitely seem to be worth the money.
