Reviews

Men's Superbird™ Insulated Jacket is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 9.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Just the right warmth Really enjoyed using this jacket on a ski trip out to Whistler, BC. The temperature was constantly changing based on the various elevation levels and the Superbird performed perfectly. It definitely kept me warm and dry while having very good breathability when in warmer temps. Used the pit zips to cool off as needed and they worked as planned. The pockets are deep enough to fit all of your necessities including a large inside pocket for storing goggles. Overall very satisfied with the Superbirds functionality as style.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Collar and Hood are freaking big Really liked the outside colors and fit of the jacket. Did not like the orange on the inside which made it look like you had a nice orange travel pillow around your neck. Hood was massive as was the collar which looked like a funnel when zipped up without the hood. Wanted it for boarding and everyday use. Definitely intended for use with helmet. Even with hood adjustments it was still massive. Returned jacket.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Moves well First trip with this jacket was an easy camping trip with the Cub Scouts. Temperatures dropped into the low 40's fahrenheit. Jacket was fine by itself when active; better with a light fleece layered under it when sedentary. Moves and feels good Smells better now that it has a layer of woodsmoke over it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sturdy and Full of Features I've been wearing this jacket for a while in -25c northern Canadian winter. At this temperature I would recommend an inner fleece if you're just wearing it casually, but its appropriately insulated for active wear. The outer material is a very robust high abrasion material. The right sleeve has a dual pocket area around the wrist, one zipper holds a goggle wipe on a tether, the other is just big enough for some keys or lip balm. It has a light loft but feels substantial due to the weight of the shell material. The chest pocket is fleece lined and big enough for a phablet phone, the side pockets are fleece lined and have a zipper. The pits have a long zipper through 1/4 of the underside. Inside there's two stash pockets, big enough for gloves, as well as a wallet sized pocket with a zipper. I'm 6'0 and 230lbs, an XL fits just right with room for my monkey man fleece as an optional layer. The sleeves have a velcro adjustable cuff and the detachable hood is huge, more suitable for use with a helmet. This review is probably all over the place, but in a nutshell it's a stylish feature rich jacket excellent for snow sports and casual use. (This review was collected as part of a promotion.)

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Larger than expected in all ways I ordered this jacket to wear around the city during the East Coast winters. From the pictures, I liked the minimal styling of the black jacket. Unfortunately, this coat seems to be sized for skiing and not everyday use. It's longer in the body than I expected, the sleeves are oddly too long, and the hood is huge, which I'm assuming is to accommodate for helmets but is sloppy looking without one. I'm 5'11" and 175 lb. and wear a large in other Mountain Hardwear jackets, having had to return mediums in the past. I returned it. Lesson learned - don't buy a ski parka for city use.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Finally found the right jacket! I love this jacket... I've tried many others: 3 in 1s interchanges, puffy downs, parkas... but this jacket beats them all. Just the right amount of insulation and a solid shell, and very fashionable - I got the shark zinc combo with orange inside. I'm 5'11 and 190lbs... I got a Large and it fits very comfortably. It will be comfortable with a fleece inside for those really cold -20c days or on the slopes. Currently its -8c in Ottawa I just have a light cotton long sleeve shirt inside and am very comfortable walking outside. I bought it online, since I just stumbled across this brand, I did not know of mountain hardware until recently and am not aware of any stores that carry it in Ottawa region. So glad I did, finally a jacket I love. (This review was collected as part of a promotion.)

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great so far The jacket has great quality with good functionality. Can't wait for the cold weather to really try it out, that's why I could only give it only four stars. Mountain hardware customer service is great!
