Men's Super Compressor™ Hooded Jacket is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 18.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Toasty warm for ice climbers I live in the Chicago area, and often climb in the UP in temps below zero. I went to a local ice wall in 5 degree temps. I had my Super Compressor on for the approach and was super warm. Hands and feet were a bit cold but my core was toastly. Then I climbed some ice in the jacket and soon was unzipping a bit to keep cool. The pockets are above the harness, nice, and the arms have great mobility without the coat lift up or pulling. I put the hood down and unzipped while climbing, then for the slow hike out I was in the full force of the wind. Hood back up, tighten it up over the helmet and I was plenty warm all day. Love this coat!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from This Jacket Runs Way Big I am a woman who typically wears a MH Women's XL or a Men's L and presently still own one Men's and a dozen or so Women's pieces. I ordered this jacket to replace a Women's XL version that couldn't be repaired through warranty and is not currently available for women. I read the reviews stating it runs big, but the size chart made me chance it because I figured this would work for me. I was wrong. It's simple...This. Jacket. Runs. Huge. Like, I dunno, two sizes larger than the size chart? The sleeves we're easily six inches past my fingertips and I could easily grab two fist fulls of material at the chest with fabric to spare. I could pull it on and off while fully zipped. With that said, the quality was MH all the way. The workmanship was there and the blue color was great. Just believe the reviews and pick your size accordingly and I'm sure you'll be good to go.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Versatile, functional jacket I teach skiing, psia level iii. 5 '6", 180 lbs, 42 chest, 34 waist. I teach and ski in both lakes region and white Mountains, n.h., so when it gets cold, it is truly cold. I wanted an insulated midlayer heavier than the many down sweaters available with a helmet compatible hood to fit over a ski helmet. I've been wearing this for 2 seasons now, no complaints. Last weekend, Cannon Mt., N.H. was 11 below on summit with 15 to 30 mph winds. Wore this one over merino Base layers and R1 fleece, and under First ascent shell with 60 gm primaloft insulation. Perfect. The only change I made was attaching a velcro strip on the top of the hood for better fit when not wearing a ski helmut. I also read reviews and and looked at the size chart. Whereas I normally wear a large, I bought a medium and it fits perfectly.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Warm and packable. I've had the super compressor for about a year and it has done me well. Warm. Generally the large hood doesn't bother me, but I'd add a cinch strap in the back to reign it in a little. I like the accessible pockets. I thought I'd be bothered by the lack of interior pockets, but the oversized hand pockets more than make up for that. I do a lot of stop-and-go winter travel on skis and it's a great jacket to throw on at each stop.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Larger than normal, but what I wanted Yes, this jacket fits a lot bigger than the other MHW jackets I have. But, knowing this beforehand is a good thing. I wanted a jacket that my Monkey Man would fit under and both jackets would fit under my rain jacket. I was warm today when I walked the dog in the cold, rain. Now I just have to find some pants for the rain.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice Belay Jacket After a recent ice climbing trip I realised I wanted a new belay parka. I had been using a combo of a 60g/m synthetic jacket and an 850+ fill down jacket from another company as my belay solution. These jackets fit over my shell, but the 60g/m solution wasn't warm enough on it's own and with the 850 fill down jacket in place i was barely able to get everything zipped up. When I got back from Ouray the research began and I decided to give the super compressor a chance. The good 1. I'm generally in between a small and a medium. I ordered the small and the chest/body area has enough room to easily fit a base layer, a fleece hoody, a 60g/m jacket and my shell. 2. The Super Compressor is warm and seems to be be very wind resistant. 3. For a belay jacket of this warmth and size it compresses well. The not great 1. The hood could be a bit larger in the neck and chin area. It could also have more coverage in the collar. I have no complaints about the size of the top part of the hood, but more volume around the neck would make it easier to zip the last 2 inches or so when you really want to hunker down. 2. The stuff pocket could be a bit larger. You can stuff the jacket into this pocket, but i worry about the long term reliability of the zipper when using the pocket this way because it is a tight squeeze which puts stress on the zipper. I also wish it had a clip loop that was not attached to the zipper. This seems like a point that could fail and cause issues. 3. I also wish it had a couple of mesh pockets on the inside of the jacket. This isn't a huge issue as I'd generally rather have my lead gloves closer to my body, but pockets are almost always useful. I haven't had a chance to really test this thing in cold/damp conditions, so I can't say how warm it will be when wet, but so far I'm pleased. This jacket is well made and will serve me well.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Fine jacket except for the zipper I bought this jacket to replace a well-worn previous MH jacket with a tough outer shell. I couldn't find similar warm jacket so I bought the super compressor hooded jacket. From day 1, I have hated the zipper. I can't get it engaged about 50% of the tries and lately, the bottom zipped part is going unzipped. I would give 4-5 stars if the zipper wasn't so small and finicky!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good, but I didn't order a tent So I needed a jacket. Living in Canada trends to be cold sometimes. I purchased this jacket in December of a reasonably warm summer. I received the jacket and found it was a two person tent. Not actually, but this sucker was huge. I'm a bigger guy, and I tend to have to upsize to properly fit clothes. I bought what I normally would, assuming something is advertised as a regular fit. Oh man was that a bad idea. So I returned and I ended up with an extra large that is still roomy but isn't cumbersome. I could probably have gone down another size and still fit, but it isn't worth dropping another 15-20 for shipping each way. That said, the jacket is warm. Not -40 warm, but -20 with a sweater under it will probably be fine. No issues with wind or wet. It's comfy. The pockets are sizable and of a nice texture. I enjoy the jacket. Just... Be wary of sizing for this.
