Rated 5 out of 5 by from Passed the Test Took this jacket out on an overnight trip this weekend. It performed just how I expected it to. The jacket is very lightweight and durable. True to Mountain Hardwear, this jacket is built well, with the best materials. This jacket does leak lots of down feathers. But every down jacket I have ever owned leaks down feathers. So if that is not your thing, buy a synthetic down jacket. It wont do that. I am 6'1", 175 lbs and the medium fits me really well. I had to return the Large because it was a bit big.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Hemorrhaging clouds of feathers everywhere This is leaking feathers everywhere. My apartment, car, and office are full of tiny feathers. If I kept wearing it, it would have been void of insulation within 6 months. I returned it and they issued me store credit, but apparently MH has no equivalent replacement products in size small unless I spend another $150 to get the ghost whisperer--NOT COOL. Either give me my money back or a replacement product. As it stands, you basically have my $200 hostage. Also the hood is way too big, comes down over my eyes and knocks my glasses off. It's not adjustable so basically I can only use the hood if I'm wearing a baseball cap, and even then it pushes the hat down over my eyes because of the elastic perimeter of the hood. Good for layering, but not extremely warm on its own.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Some feathers fly, but over all excellent! Very warm but thin enough to fit under shell comfortably. Small feathers come out of seams, but material strong to withstand scratches.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Fabric is not strong enough for down This is my first and probably last purchase from mountain hardwear. The down started leaking when I first got it and has only continued to increase. I've had down jackets before and the amount is not normal, especially for the price. Some of the stitching also came loose in the first week while primarily being worn in the car on the way to work. It is warm for its weight but I found my purchase extremely disappointing.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Very Disappointed Over the years I have purchased many products from Mountain Hardwear. Everything from packs to soft-shells to base layers, all which performed very well. So with this in mind I thought, what better place is there to get a new down insulated jacket than MH? Oh... Boy, was I wrong. The Micro Ratio Hooded jacket looks nice and fits very well right off the bat. However, that quickly changes when you wear it for more than 10 minutes. I will keep the description of the quality to this, it sheds more feathers than a goose in a wind tunnel. Every time I look down I am baffled at how many feathers leak through the stitching and/or seams. I considered the possibility of a "break-in period", where the feathers would settle and the outer-material would as well, but this ridiculous. I have only had this jacket for a month and have worn it consistently, just so I can feel like I get some of my money's worth, before this thing is nothing more than a garbage sack. I do not want to harp on this company, but one thing is clear, the quality of the material in which your products are being manufactured has seriously degraded over the years. What was once durable and long-lasting, has simply become cheap and short-lived. Call it a business strategy or what ever you like, but this yuppie stuff ain't cuttin' it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great mid layer down jacket I really like this jacket. It is light weight and warm. I love the fact that this has a hood. It adds extra warmth to my head under my shell or I can leave it down and gather it around my neck to keep the cold air from hitting it. One small thing I would change on this if I could is to have it a little more trim fit through the mid section. It is a bit baggy but fits well through the shoulders, chest and arms.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Classy Hoody As I have matured, a hooded sweatshirt does not cut it when picking our child up from school or running to the grocery store. This is now my go to outer wear when the leaves turn color and the days get shorter. I chose this jacket over the similar Ghost Whisper model due to the fit. I found it slightly more generous across the chest and shoulders than the Ghost Whisper line. I also preferred the matte color rather than the shinny fabric of the Ghost Whisper. The python green is a great color, not too bright but not your typical black or blue. This jacket is not the warmest nor lightest MH makes, but it is slightly easier on the budget (if that matters to you). It blocks most light breezes, but on windy days, you can feel the air moving through the jacket. The hood is non-adjustable, but has a slightly elastic cuff that holds it firm. If using as a mid-layer, I would find this jacket slightly bulky. It is great for what it is: a down jacket to keep you warm and look great doing it. It is amazingly comfortable to wear as it is a very fitted cut.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from very warm, very light I live in Alaska and am in the elements on a daily basis and this is my go to in cold weather. Extremely warm and very light makes it the perfect jacket for layering or stand alone. The hood is very soft and hug the crown of your head to keep the wind and the cold out without being cumbersome.
