Men's Mesa™ v2 Convertible Pant is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 19.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great with concerns re: durability I decided to purchase these following a recommendation from a ultra light hiker. I am planning on hiking the AT in a few years and I'm accumulating gear. These pants are very light and compact when packing. Wearing them, they're airy with great wicking and dry quickly. They fit very well in the waist and are loose in the legs (as advertised), including fitting well over boots. My main issue is durability. The FIRST time I wore them I went to pull my pants up by the belt loops and pulled out a belt loop! I have never done with any pair of pants or shorts, so this is a little concerning.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great hiking pants These are the most comfortable convertible pants I've owned. I wish both legs had the zip pocket on the hip but otherwise I've been very happy with the design thus far. I'd given them 4.5 stars if I could.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice lightweight pant These are true to size and fit comfortably. They are very lightweight which is exactly what I was looking for. I've done a hike with them and they allow a lot of movement. I'm 5'8" and 180lbs (working on it) and the 36 was perfect.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Overall, Some Improvement Needed I purchased these pants for a recent trek at the Philmont Scout Ranch in northeast New Mexico. What I liked: I liked their water repellency and light weight. I liked the versatility of the zip-off pant legs. The pants were more durable than their light weight would suggest, and they showed no wear at the end of the trip. I really liked the lined waistband - very comfortable when wearing a 40 - 50 lb pack. What I didn't like: The front pockets are quite shallow, and I was constantly checking to see if what I put in them (pocket knife, inhaler, compass, etc.) had fallen out. I didn't realize until after I returned from the trip that the zippers on the convertible pant legs were color coded. I was looking for an "L" or "R" to indicate which leg they were for. I suppose that's my fault for not recognizing the color coding at the outset, but a simple "L" and "R" should be easy enough to add. The zippers for the pant legs were a bit flimsy and were somewhat difficult to work with when zipping the pant legs back on. There is no elastic in the waistband, so I couldn't wear them without a belt. Not a huge issue, but I prefer not to wear a belt when wearing a fully loaded pack. Overall, I'm happy with the pants, and look forward to using them on future hikes. Even so, if another manufacturer from whom I buy trail gear made convertible pants (they don't), I would have preferred one of their offerings instead.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My newest Fav Pants! I've purchased quite a few of Mnt Hardwear's pants. These are instantly my favorites. They are incredibly light weight, versatile and they are the only convertible pants that somehow remain stylish. Simply, well designed and quality. I'll be buying a second pair soon!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from My first hiking pants I'm getting more serious about my backpacking (as much as anyone can in Kansas...) so I needed some real hiking pants. I wanted something that would help keep me dry in dewy, tall grass and wouldn't rip walking through underbrush. So far, they have worked great! They dry very fast and are light enough to wear full pants in summer. The zip feature takes a little time (especially putting back on). I've read that some convertibles have zippers at the bottom so you can keep your boots on... that'd be a nice feature for these pants to add in the future. Also, no way to cinch/close bottom of pants, which are pretty baggy -- would be nice to be able to keep out the tics! I'm 5'11 and the length is great! I normally wear 32s, but have quite a bit of room in the waist (but there are belt loops, so it's no problem!). Overall, good looking and functional pants!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Solid hiking pants - gets shorter with tumble-drying though! Granted, not the sexiest hiking pants out there, but practical and near impossible to tear or wear out. Light, cool and dries super fast after fords or washing. Unfortunately the wicking, fast-drying material also turns them into a sneaky heat-sink with even the slightest wind on a rainy day. A smaller smartphone fits in the side pocket (Sony Z1 Compact for instance) but cut away the little plastic hook in there to avoid scratches. I have hiked a little over 1.500 miles in a single pair, and they have little chafe or wear to show for it, though the seams at the bottom of the legs seems to be nearing the end. HOWEVER, they do get significantly shorter with washing and ESPECIALLY tumble-drying. My first pair lost almost 2 inches of length (!!!) over less than 10 washes for that geeky, growth-spurt look :P They keep their length much better if not tumble-dried, but still gets a little shorter over time, maybe from washing, maybe from sun exposure?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Versatile They're great to go out in the morning when it's a little chilly, but then unzip when it warms up in the afternoon.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Graet lightweight pant. I really like these pants. They have held up very well and are very comfortable to wear. My only recommendation if I could change anything would be the zip off legs. They are well made I just wish that they zipped open in the back before the front. That way you could zip them half open to vent them without showing your knees off. Other than that they are great pants.
