Ghost™ UL 3 Tent is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 3.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Ghost UL 3 My wife and I took our Ghost UL 3 for an over nite backpack in the Canadian Rockies yesterday. We pitched it overlooking Pedley Pass Tarn. Last night a thunderstorm hit us hard. The winds picked up and the rains came. The winds were so strong that the tent actually flattened at least 15 times. I have backpacked for 40 years and that was the worst night ever. We were far from safety. I don't think we could have even walked out the winds were so high. Eventually the 2 side pegs pulled out but I had clipped the fly to the side of the tent. I didn't know what the clips were for. Now I know. I think they helped prevent wind driven rain from blowing in under the fly. I was shocked we did not get soaked. We were using MH down bags and getting wet would have been big trouble. I wound up pushing the upwind tent wall outward for about 2 hours. Finally after about 4 hours of what must have been 50 mph winds we fell asleep. Not a drop of rain in the tent! In the morning we saw the only damage was the front pole was deformed quite a bit but it's still usable. I was shocked and thought I would write a favorable review - something I almost never do. IMHO these inexpensive ultra lightweight tents are not designed or made with the same quality materials as my heavy NF expedition tents but after last night's adventure I am thinking a little differently.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great tent - when it's dry Just used this tent over the course of a few nights for the first time. The quality of the tent is excellent, it is extremely lightweight and easy to set up. Definitely not a 3 person though - it has plenty of space for 2 people and gear but the problem you will run into, even with 2 people, is the low angle walls. It rained on us the second night and our bags were totally wet on the outside from condensation on the inside of the tent (touching the walls because, basically, you don't have any other option). It could have been that I managed to set the tent up incorrectly with the rainfly - I wouldn't have a way of knowing though because MH doesn't have pitching instructions for this tent. The first night we had gusts up to 40mph, didn't have the rainfly on because it was dry, and the tent performed exceptionally. Sorry MH, love your gear and love how light this tent is, but I don't love waking up to all of my stuff being wet.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So far so good! I have used this tent on four backpacking trips over the last year. In the Olympic, Yosemite, Lassen National parks and the Bend area. It held up very well in all four locations. Yes its a bit small, defiantly would only use for 2 people. It was still much larger than the 2 person Big Agnes tent my friend had and his was only a half pound lighter. I would rather carry an extra half pound for a larger tent, wouldn't you? I want to try snow camping with this tent to test the limits but not expecting much from it in those conditions.
