Rated 4 out of 5 by Fit has changed slightly from previous season I LOVE the Nitrous jacket (own two of them from last season), so I thought I'd pick up another one. Sadly, the measurements for the small have changed slightly. My older jackets are a size Small. This year's small jacket is quite snug in my hip area and the arms are longer than my other two. My sister (who is also a small) found the same thing for her. The fabric is very nice though and, of course, the fill is super warm, but I found I'm right in between a Small and Medium this year (small being too small and medium, too big). So sad we had to return them. August 9, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Fits true to size I normally wear a size medium and this jacket fits perfectly. I am 5'9" and this jacket is long enough for my torso and arms. June 5, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Light weight but toasty. I was looking for a warm jacket to replace my way too puffy North Face one. This one is great! I was surprised at how lightweight it is. We recently had temps in the single digits and I stayed warm. So far it seems to repel water and keep me dry. This jacket is so "lightweight" that I don't have to remove it when driving. Only negative thing is it fits tight. If you wear bulky sweaters etc. it may be hard to zip up. I would have ordered a size up if I had known. March 11, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by A Great Techinical Mid-Layer As someone active within the ski industry I find my knowledge of soft goods to be somewhat broader than the common person's knowledge. A common misconception about insulators is that they are to be worn by themselves and keep you warm in temps below 40 degrees. Most insulators are to be worn with a breathable synthetic base layer that wicks away moisture, followed by your insulator, followed by a shell. This "Technical" system is what makes your puffy work efficiently. I purchased this puffy as a mid-layer for my ski outfit. I often ski in temps that get down to the teens with gusts of wind into the negative numbers. The Nitrous serves it's purpose and works well under my technical ski shell jacket. If you're a snowsports enthusiast this is a great, breathable, functioning piece that goes well under a shell. I also like the long arms, as someone who's tall and lanky this jacket fits me well. If you were planning on wearing this alone, and hoping it will keep you warm or will block wind, consider wearing it with a windbreaker shell or buying the Mountain Hardwear Phantom Down Jacket. Rated 2 out of 5 by So Disappointed I was anticipating that this light weight and stylish jacket would be perfect for chilly days in Portland, OR. Complete opposite. On a 30 F degree day I was freezing my butt off. The 'handwarmers' or pockets are very inefficient and don't actually help to retain that much heat. I was very disappointed in the quality of the jacket and don't feel that this product is worth the selling price (there are threads coming out of the quilt stitching on the outside of the jacket). On a positive note I do really like the look of it on- very stylish and slimming. I decided to purchase this jacket over the cheaper version (600 fill) mainly for the extra fill insulation and the warm hand pockets. But I now wish I would've purchased the cheaper version because I don't believe the nitrous is worth the price difference. I also really wish Mountain Hardware had a better return policy because now I'm stuck with this product after cutting the tags. My goal was to find a jacket that could keep me warm by itself, but I guess I'll have to be layering still. January 5, 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by Awesome jacket, but very long/slim This jacket is the perfect compromise between the puffy Micro Ratio and the delicate (and pricey) Ghost Whisperer. Both of the aforementioned jackets fit me great, but they didn't have the Nitrous in stock at the store to try on. I ordered it online and, unfortunately, the fit is very long in the torso and slim in the hip. The fabric and warmth are fantastic, but sadly I'll be returning it and going with a similar jacket from different company. I'm 5'5", ~125 lb, 34 bust, 38 hip and ordered a size Small. Rated 2 out of 5 by Don't buy it if you can do a pull up Though this is an excellent technical jacket, it does not fit my arms. I am a rock climber and have relatively large shoulders, and the jacket fit well everywhere but the shoulders and arms. No way to layer underneath it, let along cross your arms over your chest. For a jacket meant for use outdoors I am disappointed that it doesn't fit an athletic body and am returning it. March 23, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Jacket I have been searching for a good jacket for a while and came across this one. I absolutely love it and couldn't be happier with it! I would highly recommend it. February 27, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Great coat Great fit and very lightweight. Nice and warm. I ordered the emerald green color. The color is not as it appears on the website picture. I thought it would be more of a neutral mid green and the color is pretty bright. It's closer to the color on the small color blocks below picture. Overall I am very pleased! January 22, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by My New Favorite Jacket! I absolutely adore this jacket, I can't get enough of it. It provides the perfect amount of warmth and is so versatile. The tailoring in the back is also so flattering for a down jacket. I loved it so much that I bought it twice when my first one got stolen. January 8, 2014
