Rated 4.4 out of 5 by 45 reviewers.
Rated 2 out of 5 by flimsy As other products in the Ghost Whisperer line, this jacket is extremely light. Unfortunately there is a price you pay. One is the product price itself and the other is durability. The fabric is so thin that it tears easily. Also the whole jacket construction is so focused on making it the lightest jacket in the world that many quality corners are cut. This definitely is not built to last. May 18, 2016
Rated 3 out of 5 by Changed the cut I recently purchased a new Ghost Whisperer to replace my older GW (2010, I believe!). I absolutely loved my old one & have worn it to death, so it was time ... For reference, I'm 5'4" and weigh 133 lbs. My old GW was a medium & my new one is a medium, also. I used the sizing chart for bust/waist to make sure I was ordering the correct size. A few things have changed with the GW over the years--some good, some not. * The water repellent down is a huge plus. * Incredibly lightweight & the warmth/weight ratio rocks. * The hood fits closely around your face for warmth without being constricting. * The torso is feminine shaped while still being plenty loose enough for layers and comfort. * The back is a bit longer now than the front, which is a nice improvement. Unfortunately, a couple things have been changed with the fit of the GW. * The armpits are *tight*. They don't constrict circulation, but they do make layering uncomfortable in the armpits. Also, I am constantly aware of the tightness of the armpits ... ugh. My old GW doesn't have this problem. I'm tempted to return my jacket because of the pits. :( * The arms are about 3" too loooong. And unfortunately, MHW changed the elastic in the wrists, so it is too loose to hold the sleeves up so they don't hang down over my hands. I can roll the sleeves up, but for the price & function ... why? In summary, I'm super sad about the fit/cut changes the GW has gone through. My old version is my favorite jacket I've ever owned & I put it through a LOT of wear over the past 6 years. I was hoping the new one would be similar. It isn't. And it's just too expensive to keep in the hopes that it will relax or that I will grow to love it. February 5, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Dream puffy So warm, so light. I have the black and it's shiny and beautiful. I have the medium and it fits just a hair big, I'm 5'7 145 but think small would not be optimal for layering or activities. Rumor is its a little sensitive when it comes to wear and tear but so far it has held up to my everyday accidental bumping into sharp objects. Been wearing it as a casual jacket and not planning on using it skiing because I want it to stay pretty. Love this thing. January 13, 2016
Rated 4 out of 5 by Well-endowed women, be warned! After a lot of research, I ordered this and the Torsun shell. I like both of them except for 2 things, both of which have to do with the fact that I am well-endowed. 1) The pockets are placed higher than on any jacket I've ever owned. I have no idea why Mountain Hardwear places their pockets so high, but I hope they read this review and re-think that. On the Ghost Whisperer, if I have the jacket zipped closed, it literally looks like the zipper toggles are hanging from my boobs. I like to keep a pair of liner gloves in one pocket and a beanie in the other pocket. Because the pockets are placed so high, I end up with the bulge that the gloves and hat make right under my boobs, instead of down closer to my waist like in all the jackets I've ever owned before. 2) The chest is a little tight. With a thin Icebreaker base layer on, I can zip the Ghost Whisperer, and zip the Torsun on over the Ghost Whisperer. But if I had anything heavier on as a base layer, it would be really tight. Even though I am only 5 3 1/2" tall, I did order XL in both because of my big chest, yet I still experienced both of these problems. I like everything else about them, but am considering returning them for the pocket issue. January 9, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Warmth without bulk! On a freezing cold weekend in Cambridge MA in October, I borrowed a Ghost Whisperer jacket from my son and it was a life-saver - for me if not for him! I had an opportunity to buy one for myself a few weeks ago and wear it indoors and out. A perfect answer to the arctic weather we're getting. December 30, 2015
Rated 2 out of 5 by Not for curves This coat has all the makings of a perfect jacket. I love the materials, the quality, and the performance! Since this jacket was a gift, I was not able to try it on before it was purchased. That being said, the only flaw that has been noticeable since the very first time I wore it (and has continued to drive me nuts) is that the tapered waist is not nearly tapered enough. I have hips, as most women do. This jacket rides up on my hips to the point that I am constantly tugging it back down whether I'm sitting, standing, or being active. The toggle feature along the bottom hem is a nice idea, but even at it's loosest, it's still an issue and often prevents me from wearing the jacket. For the price point, I would have expected a better fit. November 16, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Traveler So versatile! Have worn my jacket on airplane in change of weather, easy to fit in bag when climate changes or ball up to use as pillow. Have gone skiing in 20F and been very warm notwithstanding numerous falls. Have washed it as directed and is like new. Love this jacket, bought two different colours. October 22, 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by Wish it fits better I agree with the other reviewers here where I wish the fit is better. I'm 5'8" 145 and small fits me EXCEPT for the arms where it's very tight. If I go to Medium, then everything is very loose around my body. I also don't like how shiny it is, a few years ago, it was more of a matte finish. Other than that, it's a great jacket. SUPER light, very comfy and warm. Perfect for travel as the outer (when it's not wet) or inner layer (perfect just with a rain jacket). October 12, 2015
Rated 3 out of 5 by So wanted this to work! I am a big MH fan, owning several coats, shirts, etc. I was super excited for this jacket, but couldn't find it in any stores to try on. Finally ordered it in the Aristocrat blue (GORGEOUS deep blue color) in my usual medium. I was disappointed by this jacket for two reasons: 1) it ran too short in the torso length; 2) it fit a little boxie/lacked tapering. So unfortunately I returned it. If it were tapered to be a little more feminine and if it ran longer that above my hips, I absolutely would have kept it! AND I would have preferred a longer arm sleeve length, but at 5'9" I often encounter too short of sleeves in most brands. The return policy was super easy as our local store takes incredibly good care of me. LOVE the company and the quality of their products, but this time the fit just didn't work. January 25, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Favorite Jacket I absolutely love this jacket. It keeps me warm even down into the 30's and it's so lightweight I can barely tell it's there. My only complaint is that it not very resistant to heavy winds, but overall it holds up extremely well. I'm also around a size 10 and I found the medium to be a little too small if I wanted to layer under it, so I went with the large and it's a little room-y in the general stomach area. But overall this is my favorite jacket I own. I bought mine on sale, but it's well worth the cost. I only regret not buying the one with the hood. Another thing I love is that it packs into it's own pocket. When I was traveling from 30 degree Iowa weather to 70 degree Florida weather it was great to stuff into it's own pocket and stick in my carry-on. January 9, 2015
