Reviews

Rated 4.2 out of 5 by 30 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by I Love My Ghost Whisper I absolutely love this jacket! my shoulders are a little to big for the small so i went with a medium. Im glad i did because i have used this jacket on some wildly cold tours under my winter jacket to keep warm. But never worried about a seem ripping if i fall snowboarding. The one thing i love most is im never to hot , it regulates heat very well. just took it on my first camping trip of the season. packs small and super light. April 12, 2016
Rated 3 out of 5 by Great, light jacket but the armpits! I really wanted to love this jacket. I ordered my standard size (M). When the jacket was delivered, I was blown away by how light it was. I loved the weight, loved the hood, loved the fit... everywhere but the armpits. I should have listened to the other reviewers because it really is an issue. I could feel the seam pushing into my armpit while wearing only a t-shirt underneath. I would struggle to layer anything else under the jacket & was imagining all the irritation I would get on a hiking trip - the reason I purchased the jacket. Sadly, I returned it. Mountain Hardwear, please fix this fit issue! As a side note, be aware the black color is not matte like the pictures. It is a very shiny trashbag-like black color. February 16, 2016
Rated 3 out of 5 by Amazing warmth, but poor fit The warmth is really unparalleled. This is a super lightweight jacket, extremely thin but magically warm. You'll need a windbreaker on top to really protect against cold winds, but this is good down to at least the 20s on its own. Construction is a bit lacking. The stitching is really light & thin in some parts, which already look like they're falling apart. Really disappointing for a jacket of this price range. The worst part is how tight the armholes are. Everyone else is definitely on point here; it is irritatingly uncomfortable but while you're hiking it's possible to forget. It just makes it near-impossible to layer with this jacket appropriately and comfortably. High score for the warmth. Low score for the fit. February 15, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Comfy as your favorite sweater I got the ghost whisperer to take on a backpacking trip to the Sierras this summer but it's been a fantastic all around jacket so far this winter. It has plenty of movement for any activity, keeps me warm on its own down into 30-40 degree weather, and is extremely comfy thanks to how light it is. Fits pretty true to size. January 13, 2016
Rated 2 out of 5 by Zipper poor quality Pros: Great fit, warm and light weight. Cons: The worst zipper quality ever designed. The zipper ripped the fabric of the jacket. Don't waste your money on this one. Very disappointing Mountain Hardware. January 3, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Sweet jacket. My wife's Christmas present. She loves it. Very warm. Very lightweight. She looks very attractive in it as well. Score MH! December 20, 2015
Rated 2 out of 5 by Weird Fit/Tight Armholes I really wanted to like this jacket. I am 5'1 and 110lbs. This jacket is supposed to have an active fit, but it is strangely tight at the armholes, where active people have muscle, and very loose around the torso, where active people are slim. I tried on an xs first, but couldn't move my arms, and then exchanged it for a small, which I swam in. It looks like Mountain Hardware has had the same complaint for several years, so they should absolutely act on this. My Arcteryx Atom Lt fits perfectly in an xs, and I am looking for a warmer jacket for the dead of winter. I guess I need to go look at another Arcteryx. December 19, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by It's wrong to love something as much as I love this jacket I don't know what's up with the other reviewers, but this jacket fits me great. I'm 5'3, 125, and usually wear a S. I ordered a S and it's perfect. I wouldn't wear anything super bulky underneath it, but I wouldn't need to, because this is sooooooo warm, yet soooooo light. It's unseasonably warm for December and I'm kinda bummed because I look like an idiot wearing down when it's so nice out, but it's a, frankly, awesome looking jacket -- went with the mountain dew yellow -- and I love, love, love it. Rated 3 out of 5 by arm holes are way too tight I purchased this product knowing that I might not be happy with the fit, because multiple other reviewers said the arm holes are too tight. I completely agree. I wear a size small, but I ordered up and got a medium so I can layer several things under this as a midlayer. The armholes are sized more like an extra small on this size medium jacket. Because I got a medium when I'm a size small, it's at the very lower limits of acceptable for fit at the pits and armholes, and I certainly can't layer a ton of things under it. I like that it's ultracompressible, so I'm keeping it, but this was a very poor choice for cutting the pattern on this jacket, Mt Hardware!! December 14, 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by For a $350 Jacket, Not Recommended I value my hard earned money and bought this jacket on sale, so I didn't pay $350 and I'm so glad I didn't. While the jacket is light as air and provides me with a cozy core, I would prefer the quality to be higher. Two major issues I have with this jacket: the zipper and the snagging. Ugh. As I now see in another review, the zipper is sometimes tough to get up. Uh, yeah. It's also difficult to unclasp to separate the zipper ends. I think Mountain Hardware went very cheap on the zipper. Now the snagging. So, we already established the zippers are of the utmost poorest quality. The pocket zippers also snag on the arms and it started the minute I put on the jacket and on both arms! I already see one thread loose because of it. Now walk around with closed zipper pockets just to be sure the snagging doesn't get worse. This is seriously a pain. Needless to say, I'm careful with my money. If you have unlimited wealth to throw at this jacket - by all means go do it. But surely for $350, you can buy the Micro Ratio hooded jacket and save yourself a nice chunk of cash. I'd love to return mine and get the Micro Ratio but I already cut the tag. One positive aspect is that the fit is great. I am 5', 115 lbs. and bought an XS. December 5, 2015
