Women's Ghost Whisperer™ Down Hooded Jacket 4.1 5 7 7
Super light, but runs big I have a Ghost Whisperer from last year, this year the fit is larger (5'3" #120, athletic build)--ordered a small again, but had to return it because it was too big. This is an ultra lightweight down jacket, a wonderfully warm piece. January 10, 2015
Super warm, lightweight, and trendy! I LOVE this jacket. I got it in the dark grey with pink zipper. It is super cute and, oh my, incredibly warm. But not too warm, it doesn't make me sweat. I also love that it has a hood if I get caught in a light rain. January 8, 2015
Lightweight and warm Bought this to replace my pre-Q.Shield-down-technology Ghost Whisperer, but the new version of this jacket is baggier in the torso and the cuffs are too big (and not adjustable). Literally, I can fit both wrists in one sleeve now, whereas the elastic cuffs on my old version close nicely around my wrists. Overall, I am a fan of the Ghost Whisperer (it's definitely the warmest jacket on the market for its weight), but I don't like the updates to the jacket's size and details. January 7, 2015
Love quality and function but not fit Quality and function are excellent. I love the lightness and water resistance to this jacket. Fit is tricky. I am a 5'5" 120# woman with about a ten inch difference between waist and chest and hip and developed shoulder muscles but not bulky or manly. When I went to buy a suit jacket at the normal places like Anne Taylor I learned I was comparatively broad shouldered and small waisted. I hadn't realized this before as I spend a lot of time outdoors and had a casual job that had allowed me to wear outdoor clothing that usually fits me like it was made for me. So with outdoors brands usually fitting well, I ordered this jacket in Small. It fit great in the shoulders, a little tight in the chest and unattractively tent like in the waist. So I exchanged it for an XS. The XS was oddly tight around the bicep, shoulder (sleeve circumference under the arm) and chest and fit beautifully in the waist and arm length. I kept it, but will probably be very careful to try on in a store before ordering online from Mt Hardwear again. The jackets Ive tried on in stores since out of curiousity do not seem to fit my body type well. January 7, 2015
Lightweight workhorse! I have owned this jacket for two years and I'm heading into my 3rd winter with it, so I finally feel like I can write a more informative review for folks considering this particular ultralight down jacket. I have three main points: First, this jacket is surprisingly warm. I have not worn any other jackets for the past two winters, and I live in northern New England. I simply layer up with base layers and top it off with a waterproof shell for wind/wet protection and I'm warm for walking/hiking/snowshoeing/windy days around town. Second, I use this jacket in every season. It comes with me backpacking in the summer and is a great night layer for spring and fall camping trips. Third, it's amazingly resilient and strong. When I first got it, I thought it would be falling apart in no time. It's been two years and I haven't torn it yet. I wear it while bringing in wood for our stove and it's survived every splinter thrown at it. I also recently got a puppy and my sleeves have been munched on multiple times by a teething retriever. I really don't have any cons. The armpits are a little tight, but I get by. I do wish it was a little longer in the back, but I get this was designed for climbing, so the short length makes sense. It is a jacket and not a parka after all. A++! January 1, 2015
Wanted to love this but it is so small I do like the jacket, but it is really cut small in the shoulder area - for a $350 jacket it really needs to be great and this is just ok. December 6, 2014
Love this jacket I bought this after trying on the Patagonia ultralight down hoody and then finding out the mountain hardware version is *even lighter*. I use the jacket for just about everything (e.g. keeping warm before a race, going to home depot in the fall, standing around in the cold). I have not tried it in the rain BUT do have the ghost whisperer nylon running jacket; same material as this one - and it is rain resistant not rain proof. Size guide was bang on. I even live chatted with a rep about the size; he thought maybe I should size up but I decided to go with the size guide and it was right. September 29, 2014
