Rated 4.2 out of 5 by 37 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Warm Light Jacket I like how light this jacket is. It's warm and packs down well. I will be using this for walking around town and also backpacking trips. It fits well with thin long sleeve underneath. I haven't had any problems with the arm hole positioning. The zippers do seem to catch a little bit more than other jackets, not a deal breaker though. December 13, 2016
Rated 1 out of 5 by Very short I am 5'8 1/2" and 145lbs so I usually wear somewhere between a small and a medium. I ordered both sizes in this jacket and while either one fit around, they were both so short that it barely covered my waistline. That combined with ordering it in black made it look like I was wearing a trash bag. November 9, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Cult classic for a reason This jacket, man. If it being one of the lightest insulating jackets on the market doesn't sway you, the multi-functionality should. Use this as your mid-layer backpacking, as your belay jacket climbing, as a light jacket in the fringe seasons. The raglan sleeve keeps the arms and body of the jacket moving freely - your tummy won't hang out when you reach for that jug. The ghost material is impossibly light and durable. And bonus points - if you buy the hooded version, which I recommend, you can roll the body of the jacket into the hood for the perfect back-country pillow. I've seen 5 year old well-loved versions that look like new. Stop thinking about it, buy one. October 11, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Worked in Iceland! I spent a week in Iceland in October (40-50 degrees F, rainy, winds you wouldn't believe) and the jacket kept me warm and dry the entire week. I wore a long sleeve top under my jacket per personal preference. The wind tried to cut through and I think the jacket did as good of a job as any jacket could in those conditions. I was very happy it kept me dry and I was much better off than my husband who was wearing an alternative brand. I ordered a medium and I'm 6 feet tall and 140lbs. I didn't have any issues with the sizing at all and the sleeves and body of the jacket were the perfect length. Per my husband, the jacket could have been more slimming and was "kind of boxy". Great jacket overall! October 8, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Incredibly warm This is for sure my new favorite jacket! I was delightfully surprised to see how warm the jacket is after picking up and realizing how incredible light it is. Wore this jacket out in the badlands during 25 mph winds and wasn't even phased by the chill. I did find that it was a tad constricting for certain movements while climbing. Overall the jacket is amazing. October 1, 2016
Rated 3 out of 5 by Sizing is wrong I had a GhostWhisperer from 2013 and it was a medium. I had it sent in to replace it (zipper malfunction) and now the medium is too small- too short of torso and too small around the armpits. I exchanged for a large, and I'm absolutely swimming in the large! The armpits are too tight on the medium, but the large is massive. Where's the medium and a half? Very frustrating. Used to be my favorite jacket, and now after 6 months of exchanges, it has been a big hassle. June 10, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Very warm and packable This jacket was bought for alpine mountaineering purposes. I am very pleased with its performance. It's very light, packable and warm enough to keep me comfortable at summits. I am so in love with this jacket that I have also adopted it as my everyday jacket as it's perfect for the damp and cold streets of San Francisco. May 10, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by I Love My Ghost Whisper I absolutely love this jacket! my shoulders are a little to big for the small so i went with a medium. Im glad i did because i have used this jacket on some wildly cold tours under my winter jacket to keep warm. But never worried about a seem ripping if i fall snowboarding. The one thing i love most is im never to hot , it regulates heat very well. just took it on my first camping trip of the season. packs small and super light. April 12, 2016
Rated 3 out of 5 by Great, light jacket but the armpits! I really wanted to love this jacket. I ordered my standard size (M). When the jacket was delivered, I was blown away by how light it was. I loved the weight, loved the hood, loved the fit... everywhere but the armpits. I should have listened to the other reviewers because it really is an issue. I could feel the seam pushing into my armpit while wearing only a t-shirt underneath. I would struggle to layer anything else under the jacket & was imagining all the irritation I would get on a hiking trip - the reason I purchased the jacket. Sadly, I returned it. Mountain Hardwear, please fix this fit issue! As a side note, be aware the black color is not matte like the pictures. It is a very shiny trashbag-like black color. February 16, 2016
Rated 3 out of 5 by Amazing warmth, but poor fit The warmth is really unparalleled. This is a super lightweight jacket, extremely thin but magically warm. You'll need a windbreaker on top to really protect against cold winds, but this is good down to at least the 20s on its own. Construction is a bit lacking. The stitching is really light & thin in some parts, which already look like they're falling apart. Really disappointing for a jacket of this price range. The worst part is how tight the armholes are. Everyone else is definitely on point here; it is irritatingly uncomfortable but while you're hiking it's possible to forget. It just makes it near-impossible to layer with this jacket appropriately and comfortably. High score for the warmth. Low score for the fit. February 15, 2016
