Optic VUE™ 2.5 Tent is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 6.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Camping under the stars I purchased the Optic 2.5 to replace an older tent that had outlived its' usefulness. I love the space that this tent affords the panorama view is worth the price. My only "gripe" is that, while the set up is intuitive, the visual paper instructions that comes with the tent, is a little difficult to understand. I found the various You Tube videos were quite helpful. Yes, the tent weights more than a few pounds (about 6 pounds) which may be more that a purist would want to carry, I found the extra weight not to be an issues when compared to the overall benefits.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Comfortable but Over-designed The Optic VUE 2.5 is roomy and comfortable. We bought the tent in hopes of bringing our dog along with us and it will work well for that purpose. However, it seems over-designed and much heavier than necessary. The tent has a solid rain fly with two vestibules, which is great, but the two doors have fabric that zips over them as well as screens. It seems to me like a lot of unnecessary material and weight (tent fabric, zippers, etc). With the fabric zipped over the screens there is no ventilation whatsoever, so they seem even more unnecessary. We'll certainly be comfortable in this tent, but won't be taking it backpacking.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Love it I love this tent so far had it for a few months can't wait to take it on the trails. The only thing that I have had issues was the lack of instructions for pitching the tent but it is very intuitive to figure it out.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great tent My wife and I recently purchased this tent to replace our ageing Mountain Hardwear Sojourn 2 that had eventually given up the ghost. We bought it for hiking/backpacking, the two of us and our dog. The tent has lots of room for the three of us, and we love that we can open it up to enjoy the view. We haven't really taken use of the ability to open the tent up all the way for that 180 degree view - but the regular way works great anyway. One feature I miss from our Sojourn 2 tent, is the hubbed pole. I would have loved it if the tent came with a pole hub, for easier pitching. Although the pitching is pretty easy as it is. Overall I think it's a great tent for the price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Its big but that is the point My wife and I recently picked up this tent for backpacking, and we love it. This tent is big for a backpacking tent, but that is exactly what I wanted. The high point of the tent is nearly as wide as the floor giving the tent a very spacious feel. I'm not a small guy and I wanted plenty of room to stretch out even with my gear at my feet, which I was happily able to do.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Neat design but The tent materials are very beefy which contribute to the tents substantial weight. It also very tall with very few guy lines. The tent is huge even for 2.5 and the rain fly is even more massive. I was interested in this tent because it is one of the few tents with massive screen doors while maintain both a full tent wall and a rain fly. It is nice because if you have to setup in the rain your main tent will still keep the rain out. I was hoping to use it for some backpacking around Colorado and also liked that it used some heftier materials which would combat the tough environment here in Co. It's overall size and weight are why I can't recommend it. It would be great for car camping but should stick to that as a focus.
