Rated 5 out of 5 by Wonderful Tent As described this is a great go to tent, My wife and I went on a two day camping trip and it rained about 80% of the time approx. 3 inches of rain fell in 50 hours, and the only dry place in our camp was this tent, great product will continue to purchase your products because they work, thanks July 8, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent Tent for 2 + Backpacks I've gotten around to use this tent 3 times last summer / fall. Temperatures ranged from 50F-85F in NJ/NY. We've never had more than 2 people in the tent, which we fit in perfectly + extra room for about 3-4 packs around the feet and the sides. (we're both under 5'7 and under 165 lbs. Storage on the sides are great, large pockets along the corners and sides for cell phones, flashlights, knives, wallets, etc. I got the accompanying Optic 2.5 footprint, and that fit perfectly, and also can be rolled up and put into the sack that the tent comes with. I also bought the Mountain Hardwear Rectangular Gear Loft and it doesn't fit. When you connect the latches on each corner, the loft hangs so low that it's awkward and things hang way too low. It just doesn't fit and mountain hardwear did not mention which tent that item is compatible with. Without the gear loft, the tent is still AMAZING. Setup is so easy, I set this up alone, in 5 minutes flat and I can probably do it quicker now. This is largely due to the caribiner style clip that connects the intersection of the 2 main poles. Can't get any more simple than this. The view... is amazing. If you buy this tent you'll have the most unique, lightweight (fairly lightweight if you're not backpacking) and high quality tent of all the people around you. March 13, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Perfect Two-Man Tent I took this tent camping over Thanksgiving (finally). It was the perfect size, very cozy without feeling small and warm (temps were in the 20s). My camping buddy and I had plenty of room for our sleeping bags, pads, and gear. Also, the mesh door stood up to kitty pawing so I say it's pretty sturdy as well. Definitely a good piece of gear to have. December 4, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Best for Car Camping & Short Backpack Trips I bought the Optic 2.5 primarily as a car camping tent, although I did just take it on a backpacking trip. I can't say enough about the design - it's really cool. Setup is a breeze. I took it backpacking because my partner was really tall, so I needed the room. It's super-roomy for 2 people and there's enough room for plenty of gear inside. The vestibules would handle the packs in case of rain. Th at said, I consider it too heavy & bulky for extended backpacking trips, unless you were going to one loc at ion and staying awhile. Obviously, MHW makes lighter tents for lightweight backpacking. I think it's best use is as a car camping tent. Nice price and color, too. September 3, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Optic 2.5 Great Value. Great Size. This tent was purchased with a 6'6" camper in mind. It has exceptional length (rare) and worked great. It has a fun layout and is certainly suitable for summer and shoulder season camping. The value for this tent made it an easy 5 star rating, with the less extreme camper in mind. It sets up easy and packs up small with the help of a compression sack. Weight is good for its roomy size. A perfect tent for two campers who like to spread out a bit or bring luxurious mats. The footprint area is still moderate for those who wish to share tight camping spaces as well. Campers who like to extend the season and camp in more extreme weather, may be disappointed with some features of this tent. The fly would benefit from expansion; dew and light rain fall directly into the tent if you are not extremely careful. Another foot of fly width wise would easily alleviate this problem. Carrying a tarp is an option but I usually use that for the kitchen area. The vestibules are very small for the size of tent, especially the one at the foot. You can fit two packs in the big one and boots at the foot with bit of room left to crawl in and out. Add some tie down twine to this tent too for it only comes with two bits of rope and pegs. I would certainly recommend this tent to the right campers. August 14, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Love this Tent We took the Optic 2.5 on a 4 day, 3 night, 30 mile packbacking trip on the Superior hiking trail. My wife and I love this tent and our dog (Gatlin) does too. We love the length and overall the amount of space!! July 7, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Scenery Camping I absolutely love this tent. I work at small outdoor retailer shop and anyone coming in and looking for a cool new tent this is what I point out to them. Great panoramic view, true to its fit, all in all very well put together! Love my tent, love Mountain Hardwear! May 21, 2014
