Thermal.Q Elite is warmer because it’s designed to mimic the structure of goose down – rigid stems that form a matrix of gaps and softer fibers to fill those gaps. Thermal.Q Elite uses stiffer fibers to create a unique 3D grid structure and finer fibers to fill in the gaps the structure creates. The result is a warmer synthetic whose structure gives it better compression rebound.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Matty My favorite jacket I own
This is my favorite jacket. No thrill of added weight from pockets you don't need, no hood you won't use, or velcro cuff links that ill loose stickiness. I have used this jacket down to the 20s, and it has surprisingly kept me warm... "surprisingly" because the jacket is so light and compressible! Absolutely a MUST-HAVE piece of equipment!

This is a great jacket for a variety of scenarios. Works great on it's own and especially as a mid-layer. This is by far the lightest weight jacket I've ever owned - it feels like wearing nothing but it does provide a surprising amount of warmth for the weight. Mostly windproof which is nice and I appreciate the elastic drawstring on the bottom of the jacket. I haven't worn it in rain, but based on the water that has ended up on the jacket it doesn't appear to have any waterproofing. Since this jacket is super light, the exterior material is super thin. It serves its purpose but I do fear that I'm going to rip the jacket one day if it gets caught on even the smallest snag. This thing really shines with just about any type of shell over it and is probably the recommended way to wear it, but I do wear it alone plenty of the time. I can't say it's as warm on it's own as some of the other reviews I've read (just a t-shirt underneath in freezing temps) but it's found a consistent place in my jacket line up and I'd highly recommend it. I'm 6'2" 190 lbs and the Large fits me perfectly.

It's hard to believe how warm this jacket is given how thin it is. I was skeptical but it's a great piece of gear. Incredibly warm, packs into a pocket to become a pillow, great for layering and has good wind protection too, even without a shell.

I was looking for a good every day coat that I could layer if the temps were to cold and I found it! This coat is perfect. Very light and the perfect thickness for everyday use.

Almost shirt weight.
Layers up under a shell really nice, no binding.
Perfect layer for any activity.

Rated 3 out of 5 by AFGuy Way to large around the body
I love MH products but I've run into a common problem, the sizing is crazy off. I am an athletic build at 5-11" 185 lbs with a 42 chest, I can fit some Med shirts but they are normally tight which is ok. MH Lg has been hit and miss but the this large was way to big on me. I have a compressor hoody that is close to right but still a bit of extra room but this coat is crazy. I love the weight, build and design but the fit is nuts. MH get your act together and start making stuff that fits the active climber around the waist or at least label the cut better.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Farsea Bought for layer...Worn as Stand alone
Worn only during light rain, cool/chilly fall weather in PA, so far.
Very warm Jacket (gets warm quick), Comfortable soft feel and touch...Extremely light weight.
I bought the Thermostatic in Medium due to all my other MH jackets (shells) seeming to fit a little larger than I like...this one seems a bit more form fitting/slim fit, if you will...
That non exsitant middle between MED and LRG would be perfect right now...haha.
Im 5'9, 216lbs...Should fit quite nice by spring (provided I stick to my workout throughout the winter)
I love this Jacket and all others I've owned before.

Great jacket. Warm and really compress able. The only problem is it fits really big but I feel Mountain Hardware clothes always fit a little big

Rated 5 out of 5 by ChuinMasterofsinanju Amazing Jacket!!!
I originally purchased the Zinc colored jacket in large. I am 5' 10" and 190 and it fit well, slightly loose. I normally wear a 42 suit jacket I wore it all of 2013 and into 2014. It is versatile enough to wear in Fall, Winter and Spring. It packs tight in my briefcase, and is very light weight and warm.
I loved it so much I recently purchased the black version in medium to layer underneath my ski jacket. The medium fits me snug but looks great. These are my go to jackets for the majority of the year.
The other reason I like them is they are thin enough they don't make people that are slightly overweight look fat like other puffy jackets tend to.
