finally a great jacket i have been using the same Columbia Titanium fleece for 20 years--and it is all I wear no matter what the weather is like up here in Vermont. I have never been able to find I have never been able to find a suitable replacement. Over the past couple of year, friends and family alike, have been pestering me to purchase a new jacket. I have hemmed and hawed...looked and glanced..and finally the inevitable happened...my titanium completely bit the dust--zipper blew. I went to the Apline Shop in South Burlington, VT on a whim...and looked in earnest. I tried everything...(marmot, mamut, north face, columbia) and asked every question possible...(come on, i am replacing a 20 year friend here) actually, i started with the MHW Zonal Jacket...wore it as i bounced around to all the other manufacturers....40 minutes later, i walked out wearing the black Zonal!!! Warmer, drier, more wind proof, and breathable--here's looking forward to 20 years!!!! THANKS MHW for making a great winter jacket!! March 10, 2014
Perfect! What a sweet jacket! It fits perfectly. Uber light weight, yet warm enough for those early spring, northern california days. And ideal for layering in a colder climate. March 20, 2013
PAC JACKET THIS JACKET WAS BOUGHT AS A PACKABLE FOR MY BACK PAC, SO WHEN IT IS TO WARM WITH MY FULL DOWN JACKET WHEN MY WIFE AND I ARE HIKING I CAN SWITCH IT ITS JUST RITE March 11, 2013
Great jacket for layering I purchased this jacket to replace a Mountain Hardwear fleece I had been using for a mid layer for skiing. After purchasing a new shell I decided to upgrade my mid layer to a synthetic down jacket. This jacket was ideal as it is thin, warm, and has the stretch fleece under the arms and on the back and elbows. This was perfect when the temperature on the mountain requires you to unzip your pit zips on your shell. The cool air flows right through the fleece and actually cools you down. Plenty of warmth in a thin jacket. On a windy cold day I would not wear this as my outer layer but as a mid layer this jacket is great. February 13, 2013
Zonal Jacket The XL fits well in the neck, chest and shoulders and the quality is excellent. The jacket lays flat, not puffy, is very light and has stretch panels for flexibility in the back and sides. Off to the Himalayas next month for some cold weather testing. September 9, 2012
