Men's Torsun™ Jacket is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 22.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent for winter/spring mixed weather alpine activity I picked up this jacket to use as a shell for layering when out climbing or back country skiing. The fit works out very well, and the pockets are really big. I can't tell yet if i like the idea of integrating the pockets with the vent system yet, but it is working for me so far, nothing has fallen out. It does a good job in the mixed mountain weather of the northwest. I am 6-2, around 180 lbs.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great in the cold, not so great in the heat. The Torsun is an excellent hardshell when it comes to cold weather alpine climbing. It is extremely durable and keeps the wind and snow out. The harness compatible pockets are excellently located for storage/access when switching gloves at the end of a pitch. I would like to see a built in stuff pocket with a carabiner loop so that this jacket could be packed up and clipped to a harness for easy storage/access during a climb. The jacket was less functional when it came to wet conditions in warmer weather. The jacket keeps the water off of your skin, but it does retain a great amount of water in the outer layer with prolonged exposure to rain. When this happens, a great amount of condensation happens inside. If conditions are wet and humid, it can retain moisture for a couple of days, rendering the jacket nearly useless. If you are looking for shell for ice climbing or cold weather expeditions this is an excellent pick. If you are looking for something versatile that can be used in warm or cold I would look elsewhere.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Torsun I was a huge fan of my previous mountain hardwear raincoat, so I was really disappointed when the seam attaching the zipper began to fray, making it impossible to zip. Despite it taking me nearly a year to finally get the faulty coat sent in, Mountain Hardwear compensated me with the value of the current model. I am more than satisfied with the Torsun as a replacement. It fits great overall and has great mobility and water resistance. My only complaint is the same as a couple of others that I read before choosing this one: The sleeves are a little tight around the shoulder and armpit. Its nothing that you don't get used to, but it is a little intrusive at first. All in all, great jacket. 9/10 Would recommend. Oh! Also the zipper on the new coat is a little sticky, but I expect that to get better with a little more use.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect Jacket I just received my jacket and am very impressed. I've been a long time fan of MHW. This jacket is exactly what I wanted. I read many reviewer say it was tight across the chest and high arm pits. I'm 5'10", 175lbs. Medium fits perfect. Fits great over an old Synchro Soft-shell. Arm pits are snug, but not uncomfortable. And in no was restrict what I'm able to wear underneath...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great shell I bought this jacket as my second Mountain Hardware ski coat/shell and am even more impressed with this one than my first that I simply wore out because of lot and lots of use. Functional assembly, quality materials and well thought out design.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this jacket I bought the Torsun jacket in advance of skiing the Haute Route from Chamonix to Zermatt. The jacket performed flawlessly for the 5-day trip. The weather was all over the place; cold, snow, wind, rain, sun...the Alps threw it all at us. The jacket kept me warm and dry and breathed well while skiing uphill. Lightweight...this is a very well-designed product. I'm 5'10", 170 lb and bought a large. Room for skins to tuck inside, but not baggy. Highest rating.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic water proofing, wonky pockets This jacket leads the industry in waterproofing and design for living life in the Northwest or any rainy climate. My one critique is the side pockets are a bit high in their placement, making for an awkward resting position when trying to keep un-gloved hands warm or trying to retrieve cell phone quickly.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Exterior fabric traps too much water I have found this jacket to be of very good quality. It feels sturdy enough to last a many years. The major down side for me was that the exterior fabric traps a lot of water and stays wet a long time. As long as the exterior fabric is wet the jacket is not very breathable and feels humid inside. In my opinion it defeats part of the purpose of a waterproof shell. I expected most water to roll off.. For me this would have been a return case but too much time had past from the time of purchase before i could test it in the rain. Also as other have mentioned, the very tight fitting armpits are a problem fortunately being tall 6'2" i could afford going a size over to large to have more room and still not look too baggy. (+) - breathable; - light enough; - i love the big chest pockets; - many adjustments of the hood; - nice value price wise. (-) - the exterior fabric captures water and stays wet a long time; - arm pits way too snug. i had to go one size over just for that. - i feel like the waterproof main zip is gonna break soon after using it for a year of frequent zipping/unzipping. *i have not tested other waterproof/breathable fabrics like gtx to compare.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from An almost wonderful ski jacket. This jacket has perfect design simplicity and along with quality materials makes for a darn good looking ski jacket, especially for western skiing. Sadly, as a few other reviewers described, the jacket was too tight in armpits and chest, restricting arm movement. At 6' 200 lbs with 45" chest I fit into the large category, especially in waist, sleeve and back measurements. XL would put me into a baggy jacket, except in the armpits and chest. Too bad about upper body fit, a great jacket otherwise.
