A mid-layer climbing jacket with exceptional warmth and great mobility.Though it’s wind and water-resistant enough to wear as a standalone jacket, the Thermostatic's low profile means it especially excels under a more technical outer shell. Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Jacket I really like the fit and design of this jacket. It's warmer than I expected to be this light wait. October 28, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great synthetic down mid/outer layer. I'm 5 ft 10 170 lbs and a medium fits me perfectly. This jacket is one of my favorites from Mountain Hardwear because it is... Lightweight ( this is the lightest synthetic that I own) Provides warmth even while wet. Moderate wind protection. Compact and stows in its own pocket when not needed. I used this jacket at Zion on the Angels Landing and West Rim Spring trail in early October. Temperature was 35 degrees at the start and warmed to low 50s by mid day with a 10-20 mph wind. The trail gains about 2500 ft from the valley floor and the jacket kept me warm and comfortable throughout the ascent/descent even with the amount of sweat that I was producing. The Thermostatic was key when I was at the top of the West rim with a moderate and chilly wind. I own the grey ice colored which looks great and the quality of construction is exellent. Rated 4 out of 5 by Great Product for 40 degrees and higher The styling, weight and color is wonderful. But it not suitable, in my opinion, for a senior who is expecting very cold weather warmth. February 6, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Versatile Jacket This jackets is really versatile. It gives just enough warmth for those really cold winter days, especially as a mid-insulation layer, but not so warm that it would prevent you from wearing it on cool fall days. It's been my go-to jacket ever since I got it. December 10, 2015
Rated 1 out of 5 by Decieved Be aware that the black/shark doesn't look like the picture. The picture shows the black jacket with the shark/grey zipper. When i received my jacket it has apparently been changed to all black with a black zipper. Only shark color on the jacket is the logo on the front. VERY DISAPPOINTED. November 29, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Wonderfully versatile! This is my 2nd Thermostatic jacket. I can't recommend it enough. I bought my first one just a year ago, but I've lost enough weight that a medium fits me now. I'm 5'9", 175, and the medium fits me perfectly as a standalone but still has room enough to wear a fleece underneath. Even though I only used my first one for a year, I put it through its paces, and it excelled in every environment. It works fine as a standalone jacket for Texas winters (don't laugh), but I think where this jacket really shines is over a fleece, which is how I wore it in Iceland in freezing temps with 60+ mph winds and just hanging out in camp at 12,500 ft. In Ecuador. It has great comfort range, washes well, and I love the way it's cut straight at the waist, allowing it to fall back down after I raise my arms. My wife has one too and loves hers as well. My only wish is that it packed down just a little smaller, like my wife's does, but that's a very minor thing. It's still small enough to go in a summit pack without taking up too much space. September 19, 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by Great mid-layer I purchased this jacket for a packable midlayer for hiking and climbing. I got a chance to use it in Banff at the Columbia Ice Fields. Warm, lightweight and worked well under a shell. September 2, 2015
