Rated 4.3 out of 5 by 7 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Quality Jacket I use this jacket as my outer layer every single day. It gets -20 with 30 mph winds by me and this jacket has kept me warm through that. The material isn't too hard to snag and rip but it doesn't comprise the functionality. The fit is a big and long but I prefer my stuff that size. I normally don't write reviews for products but this jacket is practically my best friend so i felt compelled. March 12, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent Jacket Love Mountainh Hardware products and image. Jacket is a mix of black, brown and silver. Sharkskin is an appropriate name. It looks black online. I like the color. Fit is comfortable and warm. A little baggy but when wearing other layers it's nice to have the room. I'm 5'10" 206 with big shoulders. I ordered a large. It's very light. People think it's cool. I really like it too. January 18, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Other reviewers Just want to say that it is all in the description, the first two words in fact. "Belay Jacket" Clearly none of the reviewers are using the jacket for its intended purpose. Lastly there is a belay zip even though the pictures do not show it. January 7, 2015
Rated 2 out of 5 by Fitment is horrendous Ok-it is hard for me to write something bad about this company since they have been my primary outdoor gear source since the original designers left The North Face. This jacket has potential but there are a couple things to beware if you are looking to buy this jacket. The first issue is that on the website, the "Shark" color appears black with red trim. In all actuality it is a grey color with orange trim. Still looks ok, but you wont be getting something that looks like the photo. The second and biggest issue is the pathetic fitment of this jacket. Like many people who may wish to buy this, I have an athletic body being 6'1, 185lbs with shoulders just slightly more broad than average. I don't have a gut. I mention that I don't have a gut because unless you are 9 months pregnant with triplets, or are intending to smuggle toddlers underneath the jacket, it is MASSIVE. The farthest from form fitting that you could possibly get. It's like wearing a insulated Mu-Mu. I got the size "L" like all my other fleeces/down/synthetic jackets and the fitment of this is not even in the same universe. If you are obese, and I mean morbidly obese, it might just fit you. The stomach area is gargantuanly blousey. I am not being hyperbolic. Naturally, the next step is to return it for a smaller size, for me a medium. I am suspect that the problem here is the shoulders. If you have athletic shoulders it is likely a size down will make it too narrow in the shoulders, resulting in arm cuffs creeping too far up your arm when you are doing activities. Even then, I doubt a smaller size will rein in the abdominal fit to an acceptable point. After I exchange and try the size down, I'll revise this. Point being, this is the worst fitting Mtn. Hardwear product I have ever purchased. Whomever designed the specs for this needs to immediatly enroll in narcotics anonymous, because they were sky high when they designed this. Cheers. Rated 4 out of 5 by Love the jacket, just wrong size Just received jacket, great build, looks awesome but it is a full size to big. I am 205, 5'11 ordered a large. Could be tighter fit in middle as well. December 18, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Light, warm, stylish, wind proof and comfortable This jacket can be the only jacket you have. The feel of the material is soft and the construction is solid. I was skeptical about not having cinching cuffs but the way the elastic band is set in the sleeve it does not cause the sleeve to "knuckle up" on your hands. The hood seems like it is very large... like you could wear it over a helmet... its a bit too baggy for just an average head but the hood cinch and tucking the excess material into the collar fixes that problem... just wish there was another way to deal with that.. maybe another cinch going up the Y axis of the neck to wrangle in all that excess hood. Rated 4 out of 5 by Super Compressor Jacket Very nice jacket. Lightweight, but warm with lots of loft. The synthetic material is nice because it maintains its insulating qualities when wet. The jacket tends to run a bit larger than its size and this may be due to the baggier and longer cut. More than adequate room for layering underneath. September 10, 2014
