Rated 4.8 out of 5 by 6 reviewers.
Rated 4 out of 5 by 14er worthy I purchased this prior to a summer hike in the Colorado Rockies. I've utilized a rain jacket for hiking 14ers in the past and found them a little too warm and restrictive. This jacket worked well layered over a couple of wicking layers. Comfortable under a daypack and plenty of flexibility. It worked well as a windbreaker sheltering me at the peak in 30 degree temps and 30 mph wind. The only thing I can't endorse is its water repelling abilities as it didn't use it in rain or snow yet. I plan to use this as a soft shell for spring skiing. This packs up small in its own pocket easily stuffed in a backpack. I'm 5'11" 175 lbs. I purchased a large and a medium. I kept the large. Medium was too tight across the chest. Large is a little long in the sleeves but did not affect activity. So far this is a great little travel jacket. August 16, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great for it's intended purpose Bought this jacket as a soft-shell for multipitch and as an around town, wind-resistant shell for chilly nights. The hand warmer pockets are pretty warm actually, despite how thin this jacket is. With this on over a lightweight fleece, or on your harness ready to go, you should be set for it all except for a real storm. May 25, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Shell be so This is the perfect piece for a lightweight softshell with a strong water resistent layer. I've used this piece extensivally in the mountains and around town and the thing has held up to my neglectful treatment of my gear. I have long arms and the arms on this guy are looong, so makes for functional use while swinging axes and climbing. April 29, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Phenomenal softshell! I purchased this jacket a few months back as a winter mountaineering layering piece. It has since become much more than that. This jacket is super stretchy, moves with you in every way you want and it's light weight. It packs into it's own pocket, which I rarely use since I'm always wearing it. The low profile hood fits under a helmet nicely. The water resistance is unbelievable, so much so, that I wore it in the shower to fully test it. The water just beads off. The 2 hand warmer pockets are easily accessible while wearing a harness. And still accessible when wearing a pack. (Not as much as just a harness.) The chest pocket is cavernous. It runs from the top of the jacket down to almost the bottom. Easily holds map, compass, gps, phone, teddy bear, or whatever you like to take on your climb/hike. The single pull hem adjustment is awesome for a quick fit. I'm 5' 11" and weigh in at 180lbs give or take a few. I ordered a medium first. It was tight in the chest with no room for layering. Ended up with the large. Just baggy enough for a base layer and microchill fleece. Sleeves are slightly long, but that's due to the large sizing. I've had this jacket beyond its limits I believe. It's only somewhat wind resistant, so I've tested at a variety of altitudes. 13,700' being the highest yet. It wasn't until the winds were gusting over 50mph, (wind chill was around -17°F) that I had to add another layer over the Chockstone. And as long as the snow isn't blizzard like conditions you'll stay dry. (The Colorado mountains never disappoint in the winter.) This is now my go to jacket. Taking the dog out, grocery store, nightlife, etc. It is a super comfy and sharp looking jacket. (MHW gear always makes you look cool.) Its one of my favorite purchases yet. I definitely recommend. If you use this jacket for what it was designed, you will not be disappointed. If you feel you need a heavier alpine climbing jacket, check out the mixaction jacket. It's just as excellent with a little more burliness. March 3, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Perfect Layering Piece This is the jacket I reach for when I need that all-around jacket. Packs to nothing, can shed water, keeps me warm when sitting and walking, but also breathes when I gotta get moving on the bike to make that green light. Love this jacket. May 7, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Product Perfect I have had this jacket for about three weeks. I have used it on multiple exercise activities. Went biking on a windy day, was completely sheltered by the wind and yet provided breathability to keep me dry and warm. Use the jacket occasionally to wear at work. Jacket is nice to wear as casual office attire. March 27, 2014
