Men's StretchDown™ Jacket is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 18.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Functionally Stylish Jacket Every year my family takes a three-day rafting trip to the middle fork of the salmon. And every year I tell myself, "pack light, dude! cause it's gonna be hot." And every year I shiver in my tent like a wet chihuahua. Not this year! This year I brought this Mountain Gear Stretch Down Jacket. And it was perfect for the Idaho nights. I definitely had to peel it off for the day, but it packs light and I was able to simply throw it in a compression bag and proceed down the river, choking on white water. A few reasons why this jacket makes me say "daayyyum": 1) The fit is absolutely true to size. I've had a hard time finding a jacket that actually fits the way I want, the main reason being that most jackets are too flowy at the end of the torso. The MH jacket has cinches at the bottom, so you can get a comfortable fit right at the waist. On top of that the stretchiness is legit! Thank you for this, MH! 2) HUGE pockets inside the jacket were perfect for a bag of sun flower seeds (like the jumbo size) and my head lamp. You can get creative with what you want to pack in there. They are deep! Small feature, but really convenient. 3) I didn't just buy this jacket for camping. I wore it once to work (the only other time I have worn it because 'tis not the season). But I could confidently wear it with a tie and slacks or jeans and a t-shirt; it looks sharp either way. One thing I would like to see enhanced on the jacket: 1) When I was answering nature's call on the trip, I had to hike in a little bit, which required walking through some vegetation. The jacket held up ok, but I did get a snag on the left shoulder from a hanging branch. It wasn't too bad, but enough to make note that the durability could be a little better. Any way to toughen up the outer shell or maybe include some kind of patch kit? There ya have it, folks! I couldn't be happier with my jacket. The cost matches the quality, so get one!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic Fit and Function The Stretch Down Jacket is the best fitting and sharpest looking winter jacket I've ever owned. I am not an arctic explorer, but it is plenty warm for most winter activities. It has a unique puffiness that feels like you are protected by a comfortable air filled cocoon. After several months of daily use it still looks like new. The fabric seems like it might be a little less rugged compared to other jackets, so I am weary of brushing up against sharp objects or rough surfaces. Aside from that, I love it!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Not as warm as expected. Given the Mountain HardWear products I've purchased in the past, this jacket doesn't not live up to expectations as well as I'd hoped. It is light and packable but I am unsure of its durability. I found it to be less warm than my last packable jacket and the shell feels less robust. It is a good quality product but I expected more warmth from a 750 fill. Once the weather hits minus 20C you feel it. Worn in concert with the Monkey Man fleece it is far warmer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Super nice Great coat and the down does not find its way out of the seams .

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Jacket! Warm and stylish. Materials are excellent, the streach is great for added comfort. I'm a big guy and this jacket does not make me look huge.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Form and Function I purchased this jacket a few months ago after doing considerable research. I was looking for a down jacket that provided adequate warmth without excessive bulk, and could be paired with a quality shell when needed. I also wanted it to be stylish enough for casual wear around town. This jacket does all of that very, very well. It's kept me warm by itself in sub-zero temps with just a base layer, and the unique stretch function allows for unrestricted movement without riding up or splitting seams. I'm 5'10"/180 lbs/athletic build and the large fits perfectly with enough room for a layer or two. Overall, a great value that provides both form and function. Highly recommend.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from "Almost perfect" I bought this down jacket to be used as a layering piece for cold days under my shell jacket for skiing in resort and back country. I love the snug fit, it's warm and the Q Shield Down is innovative, however haven't noticed how it will hold up when wet? I am confident it will be as good as they say. My only issue was the jacket was longer in the torso than I would have thought. I purchased medium size and I'm "5'9 1/2", but the jacket almost covers up my butt....it works super well for me as what I intended to use it for!! My suggestion is check the fit before you buy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Super jacket Bought black in medium. I am 5'11" and 160 and 39 jacket. Medium is just right for tech type t-shirt and light fleece. Anything more would be too snug. Bulky shirt or sweatshirt would be too snug, so watch sizing based on how you like to layer. Walking in 20 degree snow the layers noted above kept me toasty. Adding 25 yr old MH Conduit shell at 12 with blowing snow was just right. Snowshoeing briskly at 15 the jacket was too warm with a shell. The stretch fabric is great for movement, but don't figure that in thinking it helps with a snug size jacket. This jacket and a shell should cover you for just about any weather down to zero. I think too warm for above freezing temps. But MH has a jacket for that! ;)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Most Comfortable Down Jacket I am loving my stretch down! I wear it daily for commuting and around town. It looks awesome but the comfort of the stretch makes it outstanding. Put on the seatbelt… stretch. Reach for the steering wheel… stretch. Sling the heavy commuter backpack over the shoulder… stretch. I’m 6’2”, 215 lbs and bought a Large. The sleeves are perfect length for my Go-gadget arms. When I raise them the sleeves don’t ride up. The jacket looks very slim but feels roomy. I can layer sweater and things underneath no problem. The only problems which I’m satisfied to overlook: One, the down channels on back get emptied in the middle and all the down ends up on the sides. Could have used some extra baffles here or something. I can get the down redistributed with some effort and get the loft back, but it doesn’t take too long to move again. I think it’s from riding in the car. Second thing is the collar. It stands up straight and while it looks good, it rubs against my chin if unzipped like in the photo. This has the easy fix of just torqueing the collar ends outward which will last until the next time they jostled. Great jacket! I haven’t seen anything like this by anyone other than Mountain Hardwear but surely others will be scrambling to compete. The loft in the down channels is intriguing. The construction and material trap air really well, very warm.
