Reviews

Rated 3.9 out of 5 by 15 reviewers.
Rated 2 out of 5 by Quality and functionality are just not there. My FAVORITE pair of shorts are a pair of mountain hardware which I bought about 8-10 years ago. I had never spent that much money for a single pair of shorts before, but I LOVED them and still do. Quality construction, zippered pockets etc...just what you want in a pair of hiking/every day shorts. So I decided to try to go find another pair. I could not find the exact kind I had before but these were the closest I could tell from the website. The are cheaply made, there are no pocket buttons or zippers and the fabric is certainly not the same quality as the ones I loved so much. July 27, 2015
Rated 2 out of 5 by Lousy Belt While the shorts have a lot of things going for them, the belt does not. It could not retain its setting no matter what I tried. It is a bad buckle design. I had my local seamstress swap out the buckle for the kind of clips you see on back packs and it works fine. July 20, 2015
Rated 2 out of 5 by Great shorts with a irritating buckle The shorts are comfortable, rugged, and a good fit. The only problem is the buckle. It takes quite a bit of time and fidgeting to undue. I love Mountain Hardwear products, and will purchase plenty more of their shorts. Just not this pair again. June 23, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent Feel and Function Quite pleased with the size of the pockets, but the arrangement of the lower side pocket I wished was close to the front as the zipper is a little difficult to unzip. However, minimal compared to the overall quality of the material and fit. Very pleased. June 4, 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by Doesn't quite work These shorts are comfortable but have a new kind of closure: 2 snaps on the inside of the waist, and a hook/webbing waist band that fastens on the outside. Two issues with this: it's hard to get to the fly when it's zipped up. Secondly, it's hard to get the lightweight webbing out of the hook to take the shorts off. Lastly, I tried wearing these with a daypack (20 lbs) for hiking and they kept sliding down, causing me to tight the waist strap. Maybe it stretch, because I kept tightening it until I had a few inches of loose webbing at the end. None of these are show-stoppers but should be addressed in the next version. May 7, 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by Great look and design These pants fit very well. The pockets are deep enough and the zip enclosures are designed well. Don't plan to pack too much into these fitness shorts are they're more geared for a an athletic hike vs carrying too much junk on the weekends. November 1, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great pair of shorts Has features that no other pair of shorts has. 2 regular front pockets, 2 zippered cargo pockets, and 2 rear pockets. Has a built-in belt which is more comfortable when carrying a heavy backpack. October 6, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by i'm hard to fit. i feel like i had shorts tailor made. had these waiting for me when i returned from three day road trip. wish i had these with me. amaze comfortable. got the duffel 12"? dont want ppl seeing my pasty thighs. need shower but so comfy. June 14, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Great Shorts, My Go To Pair I really like the shorts, they are a great fit and are very comfortable. I use them for my day hikes and my overnighters. the pockets do feel weird at first but they are large and you will get used to them very quickly. I have hiked over 100 miles in them and they still look brand new. Very durable. The only gripe I have is the buckle system, while it is nice that a belt is included and it is easy to use it does not stay tight. This is fine for around town use but while I am back packing it is a pain to constantly be pulling up and tightening my shorts. However, it must not bother me too much because I still use them. Rated 2 out of 5 by Portino Short Pockets were odd size and shape. Belt fastener was cumbersome. Shorts were very large for 36 waist. I retuned the shorts. September 25, 2013
