Rated 5 out of 5 by Great sleeping bag The Phantom exceeds my expectations and lives up to all the manufacturers claims. This is a well designed bag with many practical features that make for a warm and comfortable night in the back country. Mountain Hardware thought of everything including a functional stuff sack and storage bag. After 2 months of regular use, I am 100 percent satisfied with the Phantom. October 30, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Bag Took this sleeping bag on a hunt up on Kodiak Island and it preformed without a hitch! My feet only got cold because my bivy was covered in snow at the feet but I was always comfortable and warm. i only have one change that I would make to the bag and that's to put a heavier zipper in it. I was always afraid of breaking it and I do know that MH is trying to stay light in a very competitive market. I'd still buy it for a couple extra ounces in a heavier zipper. Great product and I really love it! October 13, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Best sleeping bag I ever had This sleeping bag is phenomenal! I took this bag on a one month backpacking trip to PCT sectional hike in Sierras Mountains. Third day into the trip got caught in the big storm. Water got inside the tent. This sleeping bag got wet but I was as warm and dry as I could be inside it. Several times it got below freezing but I was actually too hot inside. Had to unzip it! :) Love this bag! July 10, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by So solid! Absolutely love it. Fits me so perfectly and keeps me so warm, as well as packs down super small. June 14, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by good midweight bag This is a good bag for a cold sleeper. Runs slightly small so if you're not slender you might find it a bit too snug. June 10, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Beautiful bag, beautiful color, weighs less than 2lbs, compresses like an ultralite What bag I just bought his bag and got it on sale and really pretty pleased with it. I'll also bought a Western mountaineering versalite bag 10 degree, which is basically almost the same bag both lightweight only differences the Mountain Hardware bag has waterproof down the Western Mountaineering bag doesn't, yes it's a 2oz's lighter but I think I'm really more impressed of the Mountain Hardwear bag. It's quality construction beautiful nylon material light and really conpacts very very well with the strap stuff sack you know you can really compress it. It's quality construction, beautiful nylon material, super light and really compacts very very well with the stuff sack. You know you can really compress it really small that's really a big payoff trying to find a bag that works three and possibly four seasons with this bag, so I highly recommend it. May 28, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great all around bag Can't really complain here. Q.shield down, lightweight, compact. With a liner and an r-value 5.7 pad I've taken this bag to 12° without any cold seeping through. I'm 5'11" and the regular fits me fine, however things get tight when you add boots or a water bottle. I did have a zipper snag that tore a small hole in the outer fabric. Small piece of a certain kind of tape and I don't even know it's there. I also replaced the stuff sack with a smaller diameter waterproof compression sack that fits my pack better. March 24, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Always warm, always cozy! I hiked the colder part of the PCT (everything but NoCal and Oregon) with this bag, and while it's not the lightest bag for a long-distance hike, my nights were always warm and cozy regardless of weather and altitude. To me, that is worth the extra weight. There are lighter bags with similar ratings out there, but they're often less roomy and to actually stay warm in those one has to shake the down into the right areas, make sure to sleep on top of the zipper and so on. Or, they simply don't deliver on the rating. I find the Phantom true to rating and very comfortable to sleep in. It kept me warm and cozy on nights were all my water froze solid (inside the tent, no less!) and it's not unusual to wake up cowboy-camping in the desert with the outside of the bag white from frost, yet feel not only warm, but thoroughly relaxed and cozy. I've slept some 120 nights in this bag so far, and after a down-wash it looks and feels like new. I suspect it'll live forever. I got it damp, if not wet, a couple of times, and while that makes it a little less comfortable to crawl into the bag, the Q-Down seems to work almost as well when damp. My only complaint would be that the stuff-sac provided with the bag is a little tight (and heavy). Stuffing the sleeping bag remains my least favorite part of packing up in the morning, but then again, I haven't bothered to look for another stuff-sac... January 6, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Awesome Sleeping Bag I was hesitant to buy this bag due to the price tag, but am glad I did. As I like to say, a couple hundred bucks seems like a lot until you are up on the mountain freezing, wishing you had spent the extra cash. First of all, the compressability and weight are awesome. Packs down very small and easily fits in my sleeping bag compartment in my pack. My old one had to be forced into this compartment and was about a pound heavier. The comfort is probably the best thing I can say about the bag. Im not sure what MHW did, but he head portion of the bag is sooo comfortable. I also like that the pull cord is easily accessable and simple to use (unlike some bags that have 4 or 5 cords to adjust). I used this bag down to 20 degrees and stayed very warm....no issues at all. The next morning, a lot of moisture had accumulated on the outside of the bag. The water dried out quickly and it performed just as well the next night which was around 18 degrees. The draft collar also works well and is very comfortable on the neck area. Zipper works pretty well, had a couple of snags, but no big deal to get it loose. I love this bag and highly recommend it, even for the extra money. November 17, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Warm and durable This bag has seen 100+ days in the field and is still very warm! I've slept warm in this bag below 15 degrees, which is rare considering most bags are rated at the temperature that they can keep you safe. The only problem I've had is the zipper will pop open if pushed, but that's expected after the use I've put on it. Also, it will trap some moisture occasionally, but it dries out quickly the next morning before packing it in. October 8, 2014
