Rated 5 out of 5 by Very warm and comfortable jacket Very happy with the jacket, its comfort and warmth. Used both as a jacket and under a shell. January 22, 2016
Rated 2 out of 5 by Keeps you warm doesn't last long I have had this jacket for 70 days now and it has began to tear around the metal ring where the waist draw string is. Do to it being 70 days and not 60 days i have to send it in and wait 8-10 weeks to have it repaired. (Longer than i have owned the jacket). Its winter and I need a jacket. For sizing I am 6'5 230lbs and XL fits decent. January 20, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by warm used in subzero conditions with shell over, and was perfectly warm all day January 10, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by As reviewed Excellent medium temp jacket. Worn in CO at single digits with tee and light fleece under and MH rain shell over and was just right in moderate walking conditions (not strenuous). The weight and down fill is at first misleading on how warm the jacket is. I am 6'-0" and 160 lbs and the medium was perfect for light layer under and shell over. Worn in evening 20's with active wear turtleneck under and no shell over and it was also just right (neither too warm or cold). Seems like solid quality for a hard month of wear; a few feathers out but good details and seam joints. December 28, 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by Very warm for it's weight The reason I gave four out of five is I only had this Jacket for two weeks before it got ruined on deployment. I loved how lightweight the jacket is but still incredibly warm. Afghani nights get into the low twenties - high teens this time of year and this jacket helped keep me warm but still able to move effectively. Only down side (no pun intended) is its not very durable. The right sleeve ripped while on an operation and the majority of the down came out by the time we left the area. Like i mentioned before I only had it for two weeks but they were a very warm two weeks. i think the Nitrous does run a little large if using as your main insulator but as part of a layering system it was perfect. For the time I had it I loved it! And wish I got more use out of it. December 23, 2015
Rated 1 out of 5 by absolutely shocked about size and shape i've been an enthusiastic mountain hardwear wearer since 2001, and have found their jackets to be not only cool looking, but very durable and long lived. i've had 4 jackets and have certainly put them to the test with constant active use, and the quality and weather performance has always been amazing. i've read a lot of reviews here where folks are saying how insane the sizing is, and i just thought it couldn't actually be THAT crazy. but it truly is. i'm 6'3" 195 lbs normal proportions (not fat, not skinny, athletic looking, 34" waist). i bought the nitrous in a large, and the cut is like a standard american cut (really wide and kinda short) but taken to an almost cartoonish level. this jacket looks great in the pic they use here, but there must be at least a third of the jacket's girth cinched up behind the mannequin. Laying flat, this jacket is 25" wide (25" across the front plus 25" across the back) measured below the arms. 50" torso circumference! one could easily wear a down jacket under this jacket. as i have been exceedingly happy with the other mountain hardwear products i have owned, i will certainly look at their stuff first, but obviously i'm really disappointed. i also notice that reviewers of other jackets seem to be experiencing similar sizing shock, take note, mountain hardwear, we love your stuff but please go back to your classic sizing schedule December 3, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Jacket I rarely write reviews, but I saw that this jacket was getting some negative comments and I love it so much I had to write something. Bought this jacket last year right as fall was heading into winter and I once I got it, I didn't take it off until spring. Very warm, very light, packs into its own pocket (makes a great pillow for camping). I have put this thing through some abuse (backpacking and fly fishing mostly) and it has stood up admirably. Interesting to me that some people are having issues with sizing. I am 6'2 190 and the large fits me pretty much perfectly. Like all the rest of my MHW gear, this jacket kills it. I would recommend it to anyone. November 25, 2015
Rated 1 out of 5 by very odd sizing As others have pointed out, the sizing on this jacket is odd. The material and functionality are excellent. However they ruined a good jacket with very bad sizing. I wear medium size for everything but based on reviews so far I tried on a small. The sleeve length was ideal. But, it was too tight around the body. I tried on a medium. However, the body length looked too long(even though the length is same as small) as it was baggy. It ran down below the hips. Now, if you are into baggy clothes or want your jacket to cover your behind, this might work. But, if you want a jacket that makes you look good, go with a different jacket as this will not help you in that regards. As someone pointed out, Ghost Whisperer medium fits better. But Nitrous sizing is just not there which is a big disappointment. August 26, 2015
Rated 3 out of 5 by Mountain Hardware Misses I have several pieces from Mountain Hardware. This is honestly the first time I am disappointed with the product. Material so thin it got cut the FIRST day of wearing. The sad part is I was wearing it into a building and not out using it the way it was intended. Yes, the jacket is light and warm. Fits a little big, so I have to wear I layer under it. May 8, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Mens Nitrous Jacket I've had this jacket for only a couple weeks and have had several compliments on the look of it. It's also very functional and keeps you warm during the cold winter days. I live in Denver where the weather changes daily. It's nice to have a versatile jacket like this. March 27, 2015
