Exceptionally Warm Gloves I run outdoors year around. In the winter it can get quite cold outdoors but I refuse to run indoors on a treadmill. I just prefer to run outdoors. Over the years I have assembled a large selection of running gear suitable for different times of the year. The one area that has always eluded me though is a pair of mittens that can keep my hands warm. It is amazing how light of gear you can wear on the coldest days and stay warm as long as you are constantly running. However that statement does not include my hands. I have a pair of mittens that I wear over a pair of gloves and on the cold days they just don't keep my hands warm. I should say that my hands seem to get cold easy and with the extended bitter cold we have been experiencing I looked for a better solution than what I have. After much research and phone calls I ordered these gloves. As you know these mittens are not cheap but I tend to spend what ever it takes for good running gear. I have been wearing them now for two weeks and feel that I made the right choice. The coldest weather so far that I have worn them in was minus 12F with an eight mph wind speed. At first my finger tips were kind of cold but as I got into my run and warmed up my hands warmed up as well including my finger tips. This was during by weekend run so it is my long run for the week and I was running for about 1 hour and 45 minutes. Even when running into the wind my hands were warm. The mittens are bulky and it would seem that dexterity might be an issue for some users but for my use they function very well. Based on the size chart I ordered a size medium. When I got the mittens and tried them on I considered sending them back to exchange for a size large but decided against that. I think I am on the border between medium and large but ultimately think that the size large would be to large. The quality and craftsmanship of the mittens are top notch. I have no complaints about them. I like the fact that they have a strap around the wrist that you can cinch up for a good fit and they have a SimpleCinch one-handed guantlet closure that you can tighten or loosen one handed while wearing these mittens. The are truly windproof but I have not had a chance to see if they are waterproof. To summarize, if you are looking for a great pair of exceptionally warm mittens and don't mind a little bulkiness, just buy them and forget about the price. I know I have. March 1, 2014
Warm & Dry !! Nice gloves that keep your hands warm and dry. The inner liners took a little bit of time for me to get used to them but now I like them. Easy to take on and off with one hand. Nice visible drawstring that actually works. Great gloves!! February 25, 2013
Toasty Warm Great Mitts for any cold weather day. I've worn them with and without glove liners. They may get too warm when you're burning lots of calories. February 5, 2013
Don't know what I'd do without them I bought these for my mother-in-law who has perpetually cold hands. I quote: "These mittens are awesome. I removed my hands to fiddle with the collar on my dog for a minute or a so, when I put them back on there was still a warm pocket of air in the fingertips (at 0°F). I can take long walks with the dog in the cold and my fingers never feel even the slightest bit cold. If I ever lose them I don't know what I'd do." Fit is a little tricky, since these are men's mittens. I normally wear a medium, and I tried them on and they fit a hair on the small side. For my mother-in-law, who wears a women's M, they fit perfect. January 31, 2013
Super Warm These mitts are very warm, the warmest I have had. They are not very dexterous, but they can open zippers and the like without too much trouble. They are perfect for sitting around camp cooking and such. They fit well with or without baselayer gloves. I do wish that they had a fabric patch on the back for wiping your nose on, but otherwise these mitts are great. January 1, 2013
Very warm Mitts I am mainly using these mittens as a belay mitt when ice climbing and plan on using them for witer ascents in the tetons and on Rainier and Denali. Great fit, warmth, and waterproofing. Not quite as dexterous as the alti mitt, but along the same lines. November 15, 2011
