Mr. I was hoping my new jacket would be as warm and comfortable as the old one was, and it is. I really didn't have much cold weather for a try out as I got the new one late in the year but I am satisfied --Thank you for a fine product. April 14, 2014
Kelvinator The jacket performs well and is very lightweight and compressible. The fit is true to size but allows a enough room to layer underneath. my only complaint is that the zipper is not the best quality. It has the two way zip but sometimes is annoying to get it to catch. January 26, 2014
Great winter coat I bought this coat in 2012 and love it. Its very warm (hadn't been out in anything below single digits#. I wouldn't recommend wearing it if its above 30 or so degrees outside or you'll get too warm. Great quality. Fits great #I'm 6'2; 190lb, large fits perfectly. January 7, 2014
North Dakota below zero Blizzard Jacket North Dakota 45 below windshield temperatures can be brutal but not with this jacket. Love it. December 22, 2013
Very Warm I wanted an extremely warm jacket and this one fit the bill. For example, I wanted a jacket warm enough that I could throw it on and take the dog for a walk and not care what temp it was outside. It also packs fairly small so it could be used as a backup layer for winter activities. With that said though, this jacket is quite warm, and is probably too warm for any sort of aerobic activity outdoors except in the coldest of days. But it makes a great jacket at keeping you warm if you plan on doing low exertion activities(dog walk, watching outdoor sporting events, hanging out at basecamp at night, walking around town, etc). My friend described its warmth as "It feels like you're still inside, when you go outside" To recap, Very warm-great for low exertion , but I would suggest a lighter jacket for anything aerobic. Mountain Hardwear Hooded Kelvinator Rocks! I bought this jacket in 2012 and it has become an instant favorite. I do 2-3 backpack trips each year (mostly in September and mostly above 10,000' in Colorado and Wyoming). My most recent trip covered 40 miles and included 30 miles above 11,000'. All nights were below 30 deg F and the coldest night got down to 15 deg F. Around camp - in the morning and at the end of the day - it felt great to have a jacket to hold back the cold. This is a proper down jacket (not a down sweater or similar micopuff). In addition to a good amount of down fill, I credit the hood for added warmth (by holding in warmth around me neck and bean). The waist hem drawcord and velco/elastic wrist cuffs also do a great job sealing out alpine winds The Kelvinator has two handwarmer pockets and an inner chest pocket (I used the latter to carry/protect my water filter from freeze damage in the mornings). The jacket is light (my medium weighs 17.0 oz) and stuffs easily in my 55L pack. I can't recommend this jacket enough. November 8, 2013
