Men's Hestia™ Bib 3.5 5 4 4
bucket lister I've used these bibs for several months now, mostly skiing (resort and sidecountry) and one trip to Aconcagua. I like bibs for the overlap (ie weather protection) between upper and lower garments, and not having a pant belt line right where either a pack belt or harness intersect at the waist. These bibs were highly breathable, and if bought in the correct size, fit well. I realize sizing is always a challenge, since the climber types (those with skinny legs) are looking for a narrow profile, and the skier types (tending to have some caboose action and thighs) want some real estate covered. That said, I think both will find what they are looking if the size chart is trusted. I first bought a pair of large, mostly because that's what I've always bought, and found them fine at the waist, but too small in the chest and seat/thighs (I'm 6'1" and 215#, a definite "skier" build). On exchange, the XL fit perfectly. One improvement would be if the side zips were full length. If not, then reverse the zipper pull so that thigh venting would be possible without the entire length of the leg portion blowing in the wind. Excellent product otherwise. April 6, 2014
Good Bibs Have only had a week but they worked great on my first snowmachine outing here in Alaska. Seem very tough! The only thing I would say is that they are not true "full length" zippers as advertised. They do come up the hip a good ways but you cannot get out of them without going over your boots. Overall I am pleased with these bibs! Peter Goodwin Alaskan Ventures November 25, 2013
nice bibs great fit, pockets are in great spots. my only addition would be some way to tighten the outer layer of the pants to the boots, a tad big around the bottom, but i used they for snowboarding, not skiing. great waterproofing and materials. all around great stuff. January 24, 2013
Good Idea but.... I really wanted to like this bib, however the design for my intended application was completely impractical. I was looking for a good bib for alpinism, winter climbing, and ski mountaineering, etc. and the description on the website makes it sound like this would be a perfect foul weather layer. The quality and construction seemed great and I'm sure the bib would have worked fine outdoors, but the description of features is very misleading. The product description states that the bib has "side entry zipper" and "full length side zippers". In actuality, on the left hand side, the zipper only reaches to mid-thigh. On the right there are two zippers, one similar to on the left which reaches mid-thigh, and a second which zips down from the top to mid-thigh. However on both sides it is not possible to completely unzip the sides. Therefore, it would not be possible to put on or take off over skis or crampons, which is the point of having "Full length side zippers". To be fair, it would be a good bib if you were looking for something to keep on the whole day, but this is not for you if you want something with full side zips, which is unfortunately how it is advertised.
