Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Pants Wore this for a weekend on Eldorado Peak in the North Cascades. They kept the snow/wet out and held up well to the scrambling. Very comfortable, as it was cooler they worked very well but if it was warm I think I would have sweat quite a bit. Love them though.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent pants Unintentionally, the first time I used these pants, I ended up on a 10,000 foot peak, with 35mph winds, and wind chill of around 20 degrees. I slipped, I fell, I stretched, and I got rained on. Despite all this, I stayed warm and comfortable. These pants are marvelously wind resistant--better than any other pants I've ever owned. They are also very water resistant, but after six hours of being drizzled on, some water was starting to seep through the pocket areas. I probably could have gone for two or three more hours before it became an issue. The pants withstood all the slipping and falling without any damage. I'm 6'2'' and ordered large/long. They fit perfectly with ample room in the legs and waist to wear base layers or slide over boots. Overall, these are well constructed, high-endurance pants.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great quality all around Have used these pants on a few outings in the mountains. The material has a good amount of stretch that makes scrambling that much more easier (and comfortable). They are fairly breathable compared to other soft-shell pants I've used and still are insulated enough to handle temps down to the 20's (for what I've put them through so far). The Kevlar padding around the seat, knees, and ankles is a huge plus. Keeps you cool if sitting in snow or glissading. These pants are surprisingly water resistant and havn't shown any wear yet. I do have to comment though that the padding on the knees is cut a little low. Would be nice if it were a little higher up. Additionally, I like the idea of kevlar padding around the ankles, but I tend to use gaiters every time crampons are used - still a nice feature. The sizing fits true. I was initially concerned with ordering the correct length. Measured my inseam and to my surprise it corresponded nicely when I actually got the pants and tried them on. I have high hopes these pants will last many years and will see many miles. Price is a bit steep but you totally get what you pay for. Do yourself a favor and don't skimp on the essentials - you'll be as stoked as I am.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Almost perfect spring/fall pant I've put 100+ FIELD days on these pants in Western North Carolina - bush whacking through rhododendron for miles, scraping around granite slab, kneeling in muck for hours teaching and a lot of miles. I've put them through quite a bit, and love the pants. -They're a little warm for summer trips, but perfect for spring and fall when the temperatures stay cooler. -The non-kevlar fabric begins to pill around the crotch and butt. -The kevlar stands tough through anything, it still hasn't shown any signs of wear. My only real con is the belt system. It fell apart within my first 2 trips of the season, so 14 days. There is some type of fabric within the belt holes that have fallen apart, and the buckle doesn't stay so I ended up having to tie a back-up knot to make it stay. I've since replaced the belt with my own tubular webbing. If they fixed this system and made the front pockets deeper - I wouldn't have any complaints. Still highly recommend it, because the flaws don't necessarily compromise performance.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from wierd fit these were for my husband and they would be great for canyoneering with the cordura in places where you would get abrasion from rock (which he wants) and nice fall/winter weight hiking material. However they are short in the waist area and so quite uncomfortable (low riding,) tight and short legs (even though he ordered long) and heavy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Boss man pants I love these things! I bought these pants and wore them on a 18 day backpacking excursion in the Wind River mountain range in Wyoming in may. For anyone who has been in the rockies in may you know it can either be summer or winter, and usually that depends on which side of the sleeping pad you wake up on. But seriously, these pants got me through slush, snow, hour upon hours of post holing, and sleeping in frigid temps, and yet not sweating while attempting a summit push on a 40 degree day. My only complaint is that they fit a little tight in the thighs, which would make it difficult to layer much other than long johns underneath. Other than that I can't imagine having a better pant!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent hiking pants. I picked these up for backpacking and they are great. Very comfortable, very low to no restriction of movement. They breathed very well and stayed cool enough during the hottest portions of the day. The strap/belt is a little narrow, I had no issues with it, but might have preferred it to be more robust.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Dragon Pant These Pants are bad A. I bought them right before climbing Mount Shasta. When coming down, we glissade. The protection on the butt, knees, and ankles was perfect and there wasn't a mark on them even after glissading thousands of feet. When I was purchasing these pants I read other reviews regarding the buckle and flipping it around. When I opened the bag I noticed he was right, I switched it around and it took 30 seconds. Oh, I am 6'3 210 lbs. So if you are long limbed like me you will need the long inseam. Enjoy!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from First Impressions First run with these pants was a success. Post holed in knee deep snow, climbed about 5 pitches of ice and put in a full day moving in the alpine with strong winds and temps in the teens. Other than a small nick I put above the kick patch with my crampon there are no signs of wear yet. The reinforced areas are great and definitely increase the durability. Good movement and wind resistance. Before purchasing, I noticed everyone's complaints about the belt buckle. I experienced the same problem with mine at first until I noticed the belt loop was threaded backwards into the buckle. Once I reversed this, I experienced no problems. I am hopeful these pants will stand up to the alpine abuse they say they are designed for. I am looking forward to putting them to work this spring.
