Rated 4 out of 5 by Best jacket, heavily tested! My father and I both bought one for our trekking in Nepal (Went to Base camp at Everest Mtn.) This worked much better than I thought it would. Wore a t-shirt under it during the day and a long sleeve at night in my sleeping bag!. Rating it 4 stars only because walking through a door I tough both ends of the door frame September 2, 2016
Rated 4 out of 5 by Swimming In It I ordered this jacket a size larger than I normally wear due to the sizing of other MH clothing I have owned. It was enormous and I have already returned it for an exchange. Otherwise, it is extremely well made and I can only imagine that it fulfills its duties admirably. Only gave it 4 stars in function because I have not personally tested it's function. The fill is impressive and I am even more anxious to get one that fits. January 9, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by chillwave X 3 I have used the mt hardwear chillwave for years. enjoyed all the features and memories this parka has given me. as all of you can probably attest to, the time spent in the outdoors helps me to survive the business world. this parka, with the obvious upgrades to the insulation and waterproofness, allows me to extend my stents well into the more extreme conditions of late winter trips. righteous ! Rated 5 out of 5 by Best on the planet, period! I bought this coat mainly for extreme cold conditions, rain, snow, blizzard and simply walking the dog in 30* and below weather (he is a slow walker). This thing literally shuts down the elements. I have worn it with a tee shirt like shirt under and been toasty warm in brutal conditions, which is totally handy. I bought orange since wearing this coat for me is in "not so favorable" conditions and being seen in bad conditions is at a premium. The hood is excellent, very warm, and stays on your head comfortably without blocking your vision. December 16, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Not for bus stops Purchased my Absolute Zero four years ago. Have been on 14000' peaks at -18F in 50mph winds. I was warm and comfortable, with multiple layers. I didn't believe it was possible, but this coat was everything advertised! Can't wear it while waiting for a bus though, unless the bus stop is at -10. December 6, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Geat Parka I am 5'10" and 167 lbs. 42 chest. Started with a large and way too big. Medium was perfect. Used on Denali and this parka saved my butt above Denali pass and on summit. At the pass it was minus 10 with 30 mph winds and summit was less than 20 below zero with 40 mph winds. I would have failed to summit without it. I was very warm in the parka. I had room for 4-5 layers underneath. Thanks Mountain Hardware, this is an amazing parka and it is evident you guys put a lot of research into it! It worked great and exceeded expectations! Rated 5 out of 5 by A great upgrade over the prior iteration Just received it today. This jacket fits significantly better than the prior iteration which was made with the Conduit SL shell. The Large in this still provides ample room for me to layer underneath whereas the older model I was just swimming in. I cannot wait to wear this jacket in the Alps in the winter time when I'm staying at a refuge. Please keep up the great work MHW! June 5, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Everything I need to keep me warm I purchased this Absolute Zero Parka for my photography and chasing Northern Lights in Alaska, on a snowmachine. I pack it in. (includes stuff sack) I ordered a XXL for my 6' 260lb frame. I'm able to put it over my riding clothing, once I get to my location, and set up for taking photos. The Zero comes into play. Very light weight, (big +) compared to my Canada Goose Expedition. List of likes... H2o proofing. Wind resistance Hood and velcro Pockets inner/outer Hobo sleeves Don't have any dislikes as of yet.... Great Parka April 10, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Wow . . . Pure Heat Ordered the Absolute Zero this past Summer as I knew I had trips to Winnepeg and Palmer (Alaska) coming this Winter. Those trips are behind me now and all I can say is this is the warmest jacket I have ever owned. Period. I am 6'1" 185 Lbs., (42L) and the Large fits perfect. Have used a pack some with the jacket, no signs of wear. -10 F No problem. With a light day pack I tried to wear this jacket on level terrain in 24 degree(F) weather without layering up. NO! Too warm. Cooked my back especially. 24 degrees is probably fine if your just standing around or sitting without much in the way of layering. Too hot for skiing except in bitterest cold, but you use what you have in your luggage: In zero degrees F you're hot skiing, but on the lift in twenty mph wind your toasty. Bulky for sure, but that's why it is so warm. It is light weight for what you're getting thanks to the 800 fill down. One issue, the hood: Hood gets the job done with some compromises, no. 2 is serious. 1. hood's interior area could be a touch larger for wearing your balaclava etc - 2. hood is shallow and needs to be much deeper, another 4" minimum for the environments this jacket thrives in, and together with number one is the only significant shortcoming of the parka, with the shallowness of the hood being a real issue - 3. This is a nit-pick, the hood has so much Velcro at times you have to remove your gloves to get enough grip to pull it apart. February 21, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by The perfect coat if you hate being cold just received this coat and haven't put it through a real test yet, but so far I can't feel the 20 degree wind chill. This coat is designed for very cold temperatures. I love it. December 20, 2014
