Reviews

Men's Absolute Zero™ Parka is rated 4.9 out of 5 by 29.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Huge and warm I usually get an xl or xxl in North Face and Canada Goose. Reading the reviews, I went with Large and it is plenty big. This is a huge jacket. I live in Iowa and it gets plenty cold. I'm pretty sure I could wear this jacket on the moon and be warm. This isn't really a jacket for every day use, in my opinion. It's just too big. This is for weekend stays on Antarctica or evening sight seeing on Everest. You will look like George Costanza in this jacket. But you will be warm.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome Jacket I live in Fort McMurray Alberta, Canada. I bought this jacked to wear for a fund raising event we call "The Ride For Hope". Two or Three of us will ride our ATV's over 420 Km's, north, on a winter/ice road from Alberta to the North West Territories in hopes of raising money for our communities homeless drop in center. Most winters this ride is done in -40° weather, a couple years it was -42° plus a wind chill...very cold out... This jacket kept me warm for the entire 10 hours I was outside, not to mention the windproof of this jacket, at times I am traveling upwards of 70 km/h, and I wasn't feeling a draft through this jacket. When I put it on I look super huge, it is a very thick loft, but very comfortable. Highly recommend it in extreme weather conditions

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fabulous This parka is tremendous. Great execution. Great fabrics. Warm as advertised. Runs large. I'm 6'4 and 200 lbs and large is plenty big enough to layer my Ghost Whisperer, fleece and even a down vest. Not likely to need all that, but you could. Size down one size when ordering. What makes it great for its intended purpose also makes it limited for other pursuits. This is designed for VERY cold mountain trekking in the deep of winter. Crawl into your down bag with this and you'll be warm at 20 below in my opinion. Not for skiing unless it's zero degrees out! The hood is plenty tall to accommodate any helmet. The extra baffle for the neck is ingenious-takes some strength to pull apart the Velcro, but it stays in place! The sleeves are perfect- the fabric with thumb holes work much better than Velcro tabs on some parkas. The Mountain Hardwear logos are quality- stitched-and are on chest, arm and back of collar. Nice touch. In all, this exudes quality, and it should at the price. I found it on sale, which made it even better! Bravo Mountain Hardwear!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Best jacket, heavily tested! My father and I both bought one for our trekking in Nepal (Went to Base camp at Everest Mtn.) This worked much better than I thought it would. Wore a t-shirt under it during the day and a long sleeve at night in my sleeping bag!. Rating it 4 stars only because walking through a door I tough both ends of the door frame

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Swimming In It I ordered this jacket a size larger than I normally wear due to the sizing of other MH clothing I have owned. It was enormous and I have already returned it for an exchange. Otherwise, it is extremely well made and I can only imagine that it fulfills its duties admirably. Only gave it 4 stars in function because I have not personally tested it's function. The fill is impressive and I am even more anxious to get one that fits.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from chillwave X 3 I have used the mt hardwear chillwave for years. enjoyed all the features and memories this parka has given me. as all of you can probably attest to, the time spent in the outdoors helps me to survive the business world. this parka, with the obvious upgrades to the insulation and waterproofness, allows me to extend my stents well into the more extreme conditions of late winter trips. righteous !

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best on the planet, period! I bought this coat mainly for extreme cold conditions, rain, snow, blizzard and simply walking the dog in 30* and below weather (he is a slow walker). This thing literally shuts down the elements. I have worn it with a tee shirt like shirt under and been toasty warm in brutal conditions, which is totally handy. I bought orange since wearing this coat for me is in "not so favorable" conditions and being seen in bad conditions is at a premium. The hood is excellent, very warm, and stays on your head comfortably without blocking your vision.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Not for bus stops Purchased my Absolute Zero four years ago. Have been on 14000' peaks at -18F in 50mph winds. I was warm and comfortable, with multiple layers. I didn't believe it was possible, but this coat was everything advertised! Can't wear it while waiting for a bus though, unless the bus stop is at -10.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Geat Parka I am 5'10" and 167 lbs. 42 chest. Started with a large and way too big. Medium was perfect. Used on Denali and this parka saved my butt above Denali pass and on summit. At the pass it was minus 10 with 30 mph winds and summit was less than 20 below zero with 40 mph winds. I would have failed to summit without it. I was very warm in the parka. I had room for 4-5 layers underneath. Thanks Mountain Hardware, this is an amazing parka and it is evident you guys put a lot of research into it! It worked great and exceeded expectations!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A great upgrade over the prior iteration Just received it today. This jacket fits significantly better than the prior iteration which was made with the Conduit SL shell. The Large in this still provides ample room for me to layer underneath whereas the older model I was just swimming in. I cannot wait to wear this jacket in the Alps in the winter time when I'm staying at a refuge. Please keep up the great work MHW!
