Reviews

Hylo™ 2 Tent is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 2.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Useful shoulder season tent Great vent-able single wall tent. I expected it to be water proof and have mild condensation. It held up great to those expectations. I wouldn't use it in an area with super warm temps. Max of 80 deg is my recommendation.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from First intro to a truly "Modern" backpacking tent I purchased this tent almost as soon as it came out, and took the risk of being an early adopter because M.H usually puts out some pretty good gear, and I wasn't disappointed with this tent. I was though, very surprised, when I went to set it up and I thought it was missing the rain fly. Turns out that this tent just has a thicker, waterproof, "Ceiling" instead of a seperate rainfly which I thought was pretty clever. This is called single wall hybrid construction I learned. So theres no fly to deal with which is very nice. Even though there wasnt a mesh ceiling, there was still plenty of ventilation via vents you could open around the top of the tent, which were also pretty cleverly designed. It was very cold out on the PCT so we kept them closed, in doing so the tent wasnt able to ventilate very well though so there was a lot of condensation. ALSO There is NO real door to the tent. It is only a mesh screen. So if its cold out you just have to not use the vestibule to store gear and just let the two flaps kind of hang there in front of the mesh screen to block the wind. Other then those two bones to pick thought the tent was excellent, it was light, compact when packed, very roomy, and the color really lets in a lot of light which is very nice. It is also a real breeze to set up, and just as easy to pack back up which is a rarity. The mesh netting that is in the tent that you can use to store lights, impressed me with how much weight it could hold, I just wish it was higher. It held a glock 19, 3 magazines, a couple flashlights, a heap of clif bars and the tent didn't bow inwards at all with that weight and that impressed me quite a bit. All in all my girlfriend and I were VERY impressed with the quality of the tent and the clever engineering that went into it, I was just shocked knowing there wasn't a real wind breaking door to it. That's my fault though for not paying attention to the advertisement here. I would recommend this to others, I would just forewarn them to pack warmer clothes if they plan on going anywhere cold, because this tent is a sieve.
