Expedition Duffel™ Small is rated 4.9 out of 5 by 21.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great travel bag I live in the Pac NW and often fly Alaska Air/ Horizon Air on the smaller jets. Flying to Canada has become a ton easier with this bag - it fit's in the overhead unlike my roller bag. I can fit all my safety equipment + some clothes.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worthy Duffel I purchased this duffel with the intent of using it mostly for my ski clothes that I take to the mountain as well as for car camping. It has exceeded my expectations. The size small is perfect for several t-shirts, a jacket, shoes, and other extra goodies. I even put my Shifter 3 tent inside it with a bunch of clothes. The shoulder straps are the biggest downside like the other reviewers stated. They are thinly padded and are not made for carrying a loaded bag a long distance. But this is not enough to make a huge difference. I highly recommend this bag for anyone!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Use it all the time I have both, a Patagonia and Mnt hardware bag and the design of this one is nicer with its low profile and ease of carrying. More colors would be nice to compete with other brands.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pack This!! Best quality, soft-sided luggage I've ever used. Zippers are strong, you can lock them, and the Velcro cover keeps the zipper pulls protected. The only thing I would do to improve it is to put some medium weight plastic "sheets" inside to use for bottom and side support. Not enough to overcome the reason for a soft sided bag, just enough to lend a little support.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great bag for travel I wanted to run this through the wringer before writing a review. Just got back recently from a month-long trip to Europe. Didn't check any bags, just had this as my main carry-on. Anyways, it held up to a lot of abuse. The zipper is robust, along with the stitching, and the overall fabric of the bag. This bag is incredible, but there are a couple things to look out for: 1) if the bag is packed full or is just heavy it will become uncomfortable pretty quickly and 2) if you're intending to use it as your main carry-on, especially on any budget airlines, watch out for how full you pack the bag (I never ran into any problems, but I felt like if I had stuffed the bag full it wouldn't have fit the airline standards). I don't think I'll have to worry about this ever breaking, but I would buy another if it did.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Everyday Bag I've had this bag for a few weeks now, and I love it. I love the tough exterior and has held up well to trips to the pool and getting stuffed in a gym locker every day. It's the perfect size for my everyday routine carrying my boots, pants, jacket, gym shoes, hygiene kit, towel, and gym cloths with no issues, along with a kindle and some odds and ends in the exterior pocket. It has an orange interior to help you distinguish the items inside, which is a handy feature. I appreciate the versatility that the straps offer by the ability to be used as shoulder straps and regular carrying handles. The zipper is hefty as well, so I'm not really worried about it failing. Great job Mountain Hardwear!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Big appetite, stands up to airport gorillas I couldn't risk critical items to lost luggage. Small model consumed my boots, trekking poles, backpack, heavy weather clothes. Strained to close the zippers over the load, then stowed it in the overhead compartments on multiple flights overseas. Endured several rain storms, tossed, smashed, dragged through multiple bus, train, van trips, and ultimately as checked airline baggage. Exchanged some paint along the way, too. Absolutely no structural problems. Absolutely no problem with carry-on restrictions, either. Wish: Removable shoulder straps. Loose straps get pulled in harmful ways. How about using carabiners? Otherwise five stars on all measures. Also wish I had the yellow exterior instead of black. Yellow is way easier to find in the pile. Really like: Light colored interior makes it easy to find small stuff.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Ok except straps This is a nice idea, a tough duffel that can be carried like a backpack. The top entry is well thought out in that it keeps out dirt and rain while positioned so that you won't lay it on the ground and is comfortable against your back. The shoulder straps could be a little better, especially reinforced better at the top where they go into the bag. Starting to separate already. Maybe just get a carry on size backpack.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great All Around Bag I love this orange bombproof bag so much I had to order a second one knowing my wife would demand an explanation when it arrived. Not only are we still married; but the second bag ended up in the back of her car! Enough said gentlemen.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Weekend Duffel Initially, I could not decide between the small or medium sized duffel. I wanted a bag that I could travel with ease and, possilby, carry-on my luggage. Therefore, in the end I went with the small duffel. And it is the perfect size for carry-on/weekend bag size (I went Coho fishing for a weekend in Seattle), however, it is too small for extended expedition travel- such as 10 days in Rio. I have nothing but great reviews on the quality of the product too. It kept all items inside dry from a PNW rainstorm, zippers are large and ease to pull, and the material is super durable. My only complaint is the "backpack" straps. A little uncomfortable because of how small the padding is compared to the size and potential weight of the bag. But, I understand this is not a hiking pack by no means...
