Rated 5 out of 5 by Fills a niche perfectly! In a sea of seamlessly endless supply of mummy bags, you simply can't find bags like this. A quality semi-rectangular bag, that is perfect for weekend warriors from late spring to early fall (weather permitting). Has great versatility, and packs small and light. True, it does not seem like a three inch loft bag, but no matter it performs well regardless. Although it's not a performance issue, I've got to say I love the colors of this bag (please don't change the Sherwood color MH), too many companies trying to hard to be trendy. My family's quick to reach for this bag, enough said. I would not hesitate to recommend this bag to others, and it looks like I will be purchasing more for my family so I can get my bag back. Rated 4 out of 5 by Versatile and light weight I've used this bag a few times camping in the Pacific Northwest. I chose it mainly because of it's rectangular shape. I really hate mummy bags with a passion. I move around too much when I sleep and this semi-rectangular bag is better suited for that. I used it on Mt. Hood in the summer and I kicked around so much during the night that I probably ended up sleeping under both sides w/o trying. I really couldn't tell the difference. I don't know how low the temperature got but am guessing in the lower 50s and I stayed comfortable throughout the night even though the morning air was chilly. A couple of weeks ago I took it backpacking at Tillamook Head. It got down to about ~50 degrees and I slept under the 35 degree side and inside a silk and cotton bag liner. I was just comfortable. I might have been able to go down another 5 degrees before getting uncomfortable, but I don't think I could have gone much lower than that. Take the 35 degrees with a grain of salt; especially if you're a woman. I tend to sleep fairly warm but there's no way this would have kept me warm down to 35 degrees, even with a bag liner. I'm planning to go to Alaska next week and spend two nights at Wonder Lake where it's been getting down to the high 30s. This bag will likely be staying home and I'll borrow or rent something warmer. Overall, I do like this bag. I like the open foot box, the light weight, the colors and how easy it is for me to burrow into it and throw it over my shoulders like I would a blanket at home. It's a great bag for summer/warmer temps but save your money if you're looking for something that will keep you warm down to 35. September 2, 2016
Rated 1 out of 5 by Too thin - Not 3" Loft as stated I ordered this bag online based on its specs and am returning it for two reasons. First, the 3" of claimed loft in the specs must be cumulative, not each side. Second, after fluffing the bag and letting it sit on the bedroom floor for three days, my wife and I both agree the cumulative loft is closer to 1 1/2", maybe 2" in a few puffy places, way too thin for a claimed 35 degree bag, not even half as thick as our other down bags of same temp rating --- neither of us would sleep in this bag outdoors. Second, I was hoping this rectangular bag would be suitable for zipping together as a pair for couples use, which configuration I'm a big fan of and have happily used a pair of REI down bags for years. Though the specs say they zip together, which I assume is true, the bag is NOT available in LH and RH zipper configurations, which is not apparent until you try to select that option from the web site. So if you do choose to zip two of these bags together you will have someone unhappy sleeping under thin half and other person getting the thicker half, which would not be a big deal if it had adequate loft in the first place. I own a number of excellent mountain hardware tents and down bags that I have used for many years, but this product misses the mark badly. There are many other better bags on the market in this shape at this price point. July 30, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great lightweight down bag I purchased two of these bags for my wife and I because I had read you could zip them together, which is the case. The only thing with that is one person will have the 35 side up and the other will have the 50 side up. Luckily my wife sleeps colder than I do so this actually works out perfectly for that. The only problem is it's really hard to distinguish which side is which. MH should definitely label the bag with that info. Overall a nice bag, lightweight and packs up small. I like that MH includes a small stuff sack and a mesh storage sack with this as they do with all their bags. July 13, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by BEST SUMMER BAG. BUY TWO! I bought two of these so that I have a baller summer bag always on deck and can throw a cutie in there too if I need to! The square design zips together nicely and you can easily put two sleeping pads inside and zip up and snuggle. Perfect for hot bodies and cold sleepers because you can flip and choose a side!! Q-shield down is water-resistant and packs down small and ultralight! Two bags feels like one and takes up minimal space and will dry out quickly! My only complaint is not compression sack like my zero degree Phantom from Mountain Hardwear!!! WOo! That's a good one too! PRO TIP: Buy TWO and Zip them together and snuggle!! PRO TIP #2: When it's winter and you're using your winter bag, zip these together and use as inside your duvet for an awesome down that is 35 on one side and 50 on the other!!! PRO TIP #3: Zip these together and inset your sleeping pad and have a baller surface everywhere and anywhere you ever need to go! Netflix and chillax on this and make all your friends wish they had been smart enough to pick these up! Even pad your ultralight hammock like a boss!! May 12, 2016
Rated 2 out of 5 by Cold all night Used it in a tent on a 55 degree night outside. I had it flipped to the 35 side and felt cold all night. I sleep sideways, and when you do, the zipper ends up along your back. Since the zipper is not insulated in any way, you get cold drafts coming through. It was also a tighter fit than anticipated. I'm 6'2 200lb. October 21, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Ideal Perfect for the summer temp variations in northwoods or at elevation. Packs super small and light. Temp range used 30 to 70. August 31, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by This is the best summer weight sleeping bag out there I've had this sleeping bag for about a month and have already used it on three summer trips: weeklong backpacking trip along Lake Superior, weekend long canoe trip on the WI River, and weekend car camping on Lake Michigan. I experienced all kinds of weather/temps during those trips and that's where this bag shines due to the ability to flip it to warmer side or colder side and open it fully and use as a quilt, which I did quite a bit. I really appreciated the two different temp sides when first hitting bed at night, when it was a little warmer and used the 50 degree side, and then transition over to the 35 side when the early morning cold settled in. Never had temps below upper 40s so cannot make any comments on it lowest temp rating...but that's not why I bought it; I have a 10 degree bag I can use in spring and fall, I really only care about it's comfort in summer temps. I did quite a bit of research and was looking at summer bags and quilts from many other companies and this has by far the best cost to weight savings ratio in my opinion. And the ability to flip to different temp sides is a huge bonus! It did get damp a couple of times during rainy, damp nights/mornings and I didn't notice any loss of loft so the wet resistant down seems to work. It does get kinda smelly however when damp, I'm guessing that is the smell of the wet-treated down, noticeable but certainly not a big issue. If looking for a summer bag for use in varying conditions THIS is your bag! August 29, 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by Great for my use I paired this sleeping bag with my Thermarest Xtherm, and was able to take it down to 30 degree weather quite comfortably, with no fly on my tent. I think this bag, paired with my Thermarest Xtherm, will be excellent for 3 season weather in the PNW, and can probably take it down another 10 degrees if I layer my clothing properly. I love the flippable temperature ratings of this bag. Almost an all in one. Great job Mountain Hardwear! June 18, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Light Sleepingbag for a Big Guy I bought this bag because I have a muscular frame with very broad shoulders and have trouble finding quality down sleeping bags which will fit me. this bag is long enough for me...although it doesn't cover my head. I love it because it fits, its warm/light, and unlike other sleeping bags it can be used as a blanket to cover multiple people to increase warmth on cooler than expected nights. For these reasons I think it is an essential bag for travel June 10, 2015
