Dome Perignon™ 4.8 5 40 40
warm hat with great fit this is the third hat like this we have had. (one was lost). Fits great for larger guys and is very warm. Keeps the wind out. Highly recommended! March 11, 2014
Windbreaking Warm I've been traversing across Antarctica from McMurdo Station to South Pole Station for the last three years. The Dome Perignon is an absolute must component of kit that I would not be without for any trip or venture into cold climate regions. March 10, 2014
Warm, windproof, good looking. The best hat ever. Period. March 8, 2014
Warm and cozy head for skiing Worked great under a ski helmet as well as just walking around in the resort for keeping a warm and comfortable head. Great product, but the price could be a little more reasonable. March 6, 2014
This hat is totally fit for purpose. I found this hat as a perfect replacement to my old faithful in a UK store. Unfortunately it had been tried on many times and was not available elsewhere in the UK. As I was holidaying in New York I ordered directly online from Mountain Hardwear, using the size guide, for delivery at my hotel. The hat was waiting for me at check-in and served me very well during a cold snowy week in Manhattan. I am sure it will give many years of service on English hills. February 25, 2014
Pax, Rex, oh cruel February The winter cold spells and snow seemed worse than usual, but I was happy in my Dome. And it was big enough! February 21, 2014
Super Warm and Intelligently Designed What differentiates this hat from most of its competitors is the full ear coverage. It makes all the difference in the world from a comfort and, more importantly, warmth perspective. The material is soft like velvet and the AirShield technology is every bit as effective as Gore Windstopper. I cannot recommend this hat more highly. February 17, 2014
Great head cover This thing fits great. It actually covers your ears fully. It keeps your head and ears warm. No wind can get to you and it doesn't squeeze your ears to death. January 31, 2014
The Dome is soft and warm The Dome is soft, warm and fits nicely on my head. Love the feel of the hat on a cold and windy day. A good investment to stay warm this winter. January 16, 2014
What Global Warming? I bought this on sale on the Mountain Hardware website. It was $10 cheaper than the local sporting goods store. I have worn this several times during this unseasonably cold period of climate change and it kept my head and ears warm. While I don't expect to be exploring the polar ice caps, I do spend a lot of time in a hockey rink. I was born with cold sensitivity which does not work well for me in this sport. This hat is wonderful and would recommend to others. January 13, 2014
Excellent hat, very windproof, slightly deep for my head This hat is amazing. It is windproof (so much so that it's a bit hard to hear people when wearing it) and warm. A little background: I lost my previous Mountain Hardware windproof (windstopper) hat that was essentially an earlier version of this one. I had that hat for many years and was sad to have lost it, but immediately bought the new version here. The new version is just as good, or better. I have had the hat for approximately 2 weeks now. It is currently -14F in Chicago and this hat is keeping my head very warm. As mentioned in the heading, this newer version of the hat is a bit deep for my head. Although that makes it slightly "conehead-shaped" during normal chilly weather, this is great for extreme cold weather as I can pull it down very low over my ears and forehead. All in all I love this hat. January 6, 2014
Perfect hat Could not ask for more. Great fit. Looks good. Well made. Comfortable. Extremely warm and wind resistant. Worn down to 25 degrees F and never felt a bit of cold. Its worth the money. January 4, 2014
Dome Perignon good fit, nice shape and contour December 29, 2013
Marvelous!! The Dome is purrrfect for North Dakota's cold! Wore it at -29 deg F and was toasty warm. It fits my 73/4 (US) sized head without being tight! Breathes well and minimizes the bed-head look! Love it and HIGHLY recommend it! December 21, 2013
Great cover Used this camping for a weekend. Snowed the whole time and was 18 degrees. Did not feel any cold (have bald head). The windproofing is fantastic. Highly recommed the hat!! December 17, 2013
Warm & Wind Proof Very warm hat, and wind proof ... great quality. I normally wear a medium, but purchased a large to make sure it covered my ears & forehead - I have the fit I wanted going up a size. December 6, 2013
Dome Perignon Rocks! I used this hat for a couple trips until my son absconded with it (for proof of former ownership, see pic associated with my MH Power Stretch Gloves review). Hat was comfortable and warm. I'll get another someday. November 9, 2013
If you have a big head this is the hat for you. I have a huge head and this hat fits great. Plus, it blocks the wind and is very warm in frigid conditions. I was disappointed in the quality, overall the material is good, but the stitching isn't linear so it looks a little crooked. Most Mountain Hardware stuff is great so I was pretty surprised. Overall it is a really good hat, and as mentioned, if most hats don't cover your head because of the size of your dome, this one definitely will and it holds up well in extreme conditions. I'm buying a new one and using my old one for chores etc.,. October 8, 2013
Great Hat I love this hat. What a great idea to add the ear warmers to the hat. Fits a little big. I highly recommend this hat for winter. September 17, 2013
great wind-block hat! a great wind-block hat! husband with shaved head loves it. wife with tons of curly hair loves it. keeps ya warm & dry in very windy & cold conditions. we both got the large - i would have ordered medium, except for the tons of curls - the large was great - no "hat head" look after you take it off. KANSAS WIND CUTTER The wind truly does come whipping across the plains. The Dome Perignon provides just the right protection to allow for extended stays outside in the Kansas bone chilling wind. The cap is thin enough and close fitting to allow for the wearing of a hardhat on top of it without discomfort. The design prevents the little gaps that allow the wind to seek out skin and chill portions of the brain pan. I wish the logo came in a subdueed format so that the glaring sign would be less noticable. I understand pride in your product but if I tryly like it then I will advertise by word of mouth and you would not have to place a small billboard on my forehead. March 27, 2013
Great hat Very warm and well-made. I wear it when temps get into the 20s F and below and it keeps my noggin toasty! February 27, 2013
good not great Bought it from the website and will keep it because I am to lazy to return it. Because of the tight fit and the wind proofing layer I feel like I cannot hear well when I have it on. Also, you can't roll up the edges to uncover your ears like you can on a simple cap. I am sticking with my all wool fisherman style beanie. February 24, 2013
Really like this hat Actually I'm loving this hat. My head is larger than most and it fits great. The lower band material feels nice. I like the styling, although it's a little plain-jane. Picking a cool color helps. The logo is kinda big and sits in front. I feel like a groupy when I wear it with my MH jacket with matching logo. Also, it's hard to hear with the hat pulled over your ears because it insulates so well. Can the ear areas be perforated? I might try that. Anyway I've worn it skiing in 10-20 degree F weather, with goggles and ski jacket hoodie, and the noggin has been toasty. February 14, 2013
Best Hat Ever I DONT OWN TWO OF ANYTHING EXCEPT THIS HAT ! LOVE IT ! I WEAR IT SKIING AND HAS NEVER FAILED ME ONCE. FOR SOME REASON, I CANT TAKE IT OFF WHILE INSIDE, I WEAR IT AROUND THE HOUSE, KEEP THE HEAT DOWN TO 65 AND IM ALWAYS WARM. I EVEN WEAR TO BED- ITS JUST THAT COMFORTABLE ! ONLY THING IS I WISH THEY MADE IT IN BLACK AND RED TO MATCH MY SKI BOOTS- OR JUST RED, MAYBE THE FALL MODEL (HINT,HINT) ! I WOULD OWN 3 IF IT CAME IN RED ! AWESOME HAT !! I DONT USUALLY WEAR HATS, BUT WHEN I DO, I WEAR HARD WEAR GEAR ! February 12, 2013
Best Hat On The Market I spend hundreds of hours in Alaska's remote interior during all seasons, and this is my go to hat. In fact I own two, one L and one XL. I use the large for everything down to about -20 F, then I need to switch to the XL so it can fit over my balaclava. This hat is completely windproof, I have stood in sustained winds of 70 mph and it took it like a champ. Though it is not waterproof the windshear lining does a great job at keeping the head dry and overall the hat still keeps you warm, though the exterior fleece is wet. I have traveled for hours in rain at 35-40 F wearing this hat and my head never got cold. I absolutely recommend it. January 30, 2013
Best Cold Wind Proof Hat Available I replaced this hat recently, after losing my previous model, bought 12 years ago. The new one is excellent, good fit and construction. January 22, 2013
QC/QA Mgr The design and detail of cut is functional and looks very good. Not too dense and exceptionally warm. Materials do not stretch out of shape. The fact that it is sized is the feature that wins over "one size fits most". January 8, 2013
For the outdoors, not so much around town I've been using this hat for about a year now and am quite satisfied with its quality, construction and comfort. It blocks wind perfectly and is warm and comfortable. It's not the kind of hat I would wear around town, but in the outdoors it is the go-to cover for my "dome". If you'd like a hat that's warm, comfortable and windproof then I'd recommend this one. As a disclaimer, I am affiliated with Gore for product testing of Gore-tex products for the purpose of product review and recommendation. I do receive items from Gore for these purposes, though this item I purchased on my own. December 28, 2012
The One :-) Once bought it somewhere near the Canadian border, but managed to lose it in NYC. Luckly they are available here. These hats are warm but could be worn in any weather, and they feel good, and they work well with elements. In heavy rain one needs a hood on top of them. I was using mine with a shell's hood and a mask for skiing at Tremblant at -43F. Enjoy! December 16, 2012
Silly Name, Good Hat All puns aside this hat works well and does it's intended job better than any I've tried so far. The sizes run big so if you are normally a large get the medium. If you are a medium....tough luck. Now if they could scale down the logo and make it a little more discretely placed.... December 13, 2012
Windblock takes some getting used to It also cuts out the sound, so it takes a bit of getting used to. Very comfortable. November 27, 2012
AK tested! I brought this hat to a remote camp in AK for 2 straight years. It was surprisingly water resistant, but it's bread and butter was its warmth and ability to keep out the wind. I am here to tell you that a windproof had makes a world of difference!! Everybody else at camp would 2 or 3 regular fleece hats to try to keep warm, I would just wear my MH one. A must buy. October 12, 2012
Dome Perignon The size L fits perfectly, it covers my dome and ears rather well. September 9, 2012
Dome hat From the first time I tried it on, I knew it was very functional. April 30, 2012
Size and function Finally, a quality hat that fits my big head. It also covers my ears. Proper size means proper function. March 29, 2012
Dome it is! My husband could never find beanies that he liked, until we found the Dome. Bought one on the winter sale and wound up buying two in addition (he now has black, blue, grey). Super warm, wicks moisture fairly well given how thick it is. Great at blocking wind. Love that ears are covered. Wears this running in the cold winter mornings. My man is a big fan and so am I. Awesome product MH, good work! February 15, 2012
Exactly what he was looking for My husband LOVES his new hat! His head measures 24" and most hats fit too tightly or didn't cover his ears. How thrilled I was to see that this hat came in XL! All the features work well--lets moisture escape, keeps in body heat, wind protection for ears and also comes in 5 colors. We usually shop sales but in this case he was happy to pay full price to get just what he needed to make his long walks in wintry conditions enjoyable. January 30, 2012
Dome Perignon Great cap to wear comfortable and warm. Really worked on keeping the wind off my ears and neck November 11, 2011
