Im glad I read the reviews on the sizing. I'm 6'0 with a 7 1/8 hat size. I was going to buy a XL but Im glad I got L.
Held up well in -30 degree air temp. worked ok snowshoeing, goggles fogged up a lot.
Wish they had more holes around the mouth area

This is a nice mask, it keeps me very warm but despite the nose and mouth holes, my goggles still fog...

Rated 4 out of 5 by dobintrail Winter hiking essential
I'm pleased to get the Desna Balaclava that fits well, and along with my goggles protects my face above treeline when snowshoeing in Maine and New Hampshire's White Mountains. An essential for winter hiking.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Robert5 Multi-Functional Head/Neck/Face Wear
I used the Desna as my “lightweight” balaclava on Denali. It seemed a bit large at first, but the sizing actually made it easier to adjust and accommodate additional head and neckwear. The mouth/nose pieces isn’t form fitting, but it did block the wind without causing major glasses/goggle fog up. I definitely appreciated the longer neck piece, which made it seem like both a neck gaiter and a face mask.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Alxmountainman Great For Extreme Cold but with no sun glasses
I think this is a great balaclava for very cold conditions wearing no sunglasses because they get all fogged up! :-)
I still love it and will use it when doing bivys and maybe even for extreme cold skiing, but I don't ski much...
You can always pull it down under your mouth to avoid the fogging, but that's not the intention for this item...

Rated 5 out of 5 by Abbatoir It's a balaclava
There's really not that much to say about a balaclava. This one fits great under a helmet. It's warm and the holes help keep it from turning it into an icy mask. I found myself pulling the front down when yelling commands to my climbing partner so he could hear, but I also tend to not speak clearly anyway. It will get lots of use the rest of the season.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Reed Was skeptical
I was definitely skeptical about getting a balaclava, never have really liked the way they feel in the past. This one is great though, fit is perfect, material is phenomenal and it's super warm!

Rated 3 out of 5 by Kalkberg Good for a typical winter, useless for extremes
Gave this one a shot for a Tibetan November. It kept me toasty at lower wind speeds, but was nearly useless above ~15 mph. I would recommend it for a ski trip or a typical winter in colder climes, but not for serious cold and wind. In terms of size, I have a fairly large noggin (XL usually), and I felt like I was swimming in it. While it is great in terms of width, the length seems a bit obnoxious. The nose hole was nearly at my mouth, and the bottom extended about half-way down my chest. While I'll find something else for the field, I'll keep this one around for other uses.

Rated 4 out of 5 by FlyNavy Quality product, oversized
Seems to run very large. My 7 1/2" melon swims in the men's large size. Otherwise, an outstanding product.
