Ghost Whisperer™ Down Jacket 4.9 5 14 14
hard to believe you're wearing anything This piece is ridiculously light, and the underlayer folds into its own pocket - use it as a pillow, stow it in your pack easily, or in a pinch - a pocket of your shell even.I prefer the hoodless for the freedom of movement, but it's a toss-up for comfort, if I were out on mountains more, or in colder weather with more regularity, the hood would be a great addition. If you are at all interested in a light baselayer, do yourself a favor and at least try one of these on. If you like the thermal properties of a down jacket there is no better on the market. At the time of writing this in May 2013 there are no other jackets on the market that compare to this baselayer. Nothing is as light, nothing is as compressable, nothing is as convenient.I didn't really see what differentiated Mountain Hardwear from the other high end outdoor brands... this jacket demonstrates why. It is unreal. May 10, 2013
Great, light jacket This jacket is sized a bit large. I am 6' and 153# and have long arms. To get a snug fit (to allow for use as an underlayer) I needed a size small. The arms were still fine. The material is shiny, good quality and appears to be as rip resistant as can be expected at this weight. It is remarkably warm and packable. I love this jacket and predict it will get a lot of use. In my opinion it is worth the extra money to get a very high quality product May 8, 2013
Stunning! This jacket is everything you want in a down jacket. I have had my fare share of down jackets that make me feel like the Michellen Man because of how bulky they are. This jacket has a low profile and feels like you have a cloud around you. I don't think I will be cold ever again.Size wise, I am 6'2" and felt this jacket fits great as a large. I only wish this jacket had a removable hood as I want a hood but not all of the time. May 3, 2013
Awesome mid layer and light jacket Was recommended the ghost whisperer by a friend and I will recommend it to all of mine. Extremely lightweight yet warm. I wore this around town and on light hikes in California when the temperature was in the 50's and was plenty warm. Sported it as a standalone jacket in the Uwharrie forest in NC when the temps were in the 40s, this plus a longsleeve base layer kept me warm. When the temp dropped into the teens and 20s, a light baselayer, this jacket and my Marmot ski jacket kept me very warm. Pricey but worth it for the weight to warmth. April 13, 2013
Amazing but.... This jacket is amazing! It's super light, comfortable and warm but, the only problem I have with it is the fabric seems too light I feel like I could rip it on anything I snag but I really haven't had that problem yet. April 1, 2013
i love this jacket i wore this snowboarding in vermont and with a outer shell kept warm and most important flexable. Rock climbing i found it great for belaying with lots of arm movement.backpacking this jacket is awsome because it compresses so small and takes the chill off at night and morning. March 30, 2013
Montana Guide So far love the jacket. Super light and warm in 30 degree weather. A little iffy on the zippers. They have malfunctioned on me three times now. March 25, 2013
Use it for everything, if only I could get out. My hoodless Ghost Whisperer has quickly become my go-to jacket. Warmth beyond its size and blocks wind better than advertised. Waist and cuffs stay where they are supposed to. I have snagged this jacket many times and it refuses to rip. My only complaints are the sticky zipper and the high tech shine of the fabric. Zipper has to be pulled apart like a "snap". Going to start with a little wax. The glossy fabric game is new to me, but plenty of compliments from attractive, down jacket lovers. March 18, 2013
Great Jacket This jacket is surprisingly warm for how light it feels. I am wearing it everywhere because it is so light and comfortable. I highly recommend one of these! March 16, 2013
Minimalist Heaven I wanted to write a review for others who are in the position I was in a couple weeks ago before finally purchasing this jacket. I'm about 6' 175lbs and bought the medium. It fits well... perfect in the chest/belly, but a little tight in the arms/shoulders. I tried on a Large and it was way too roomy in the chest/stomach area to function properly and keep me warm. Despite the fit not being PERFECT for me, this jacket is freaking incredible. I live in Portland, OR and cycle everywhere, so having a jacket this warm that takes up literally no space in my pannier is awesome. It is incredibly warm... I have to take it off as soon as I'm indoors or I will literally start sweating. The jacket is impressively water resistant as well. I have walked about 10-15 minutes in a light rain and it took on zero moisture. Overall, Mountain Hardwear has done something incredible with this jacket and I am extremely happy with my purchase. Insanely amazing Hard to believe how light and warm this jacket is. I was in 15 degree weather and took off my under layer fleece because I was too warm. A t-shirt and this jacket at 15 degrees--feels like you have nothing on, but you are totally comfortable.Great work, MH! February 26, 2013
First impression...WOW! Mountain Hardwear has blown away the competition when it comes to ultralight and warmth. This jacket is amazingly light and packs down to the size of a sandwich. I have yet to put this to the test of nature (hence the '4' stars) , but found it to be perfect around town at about 30 degrees. The 7d ripstop fabric is like wearing a cloud, you can easily forget you have it on. Couple this jacket with a rain shell and consider yourself ready for the elements. February 24, 2013
Ghost Whisper Down Jacket Review I have had this jacket for about one month now. When I leave the house this is the first jacket I put on. If the weather is mild that is the only jacket I take; if it is cold and nastily I addd a shell over it. So far it has met all my requirements. It is very light so that you hardly know you are wearing it. I only wear it locally, not putting it to any wilderness tests. I am 5'9", 175 pounds, 38" waist and the Large fits me perfectly. As warm as ever Love the new down and the fact that you can get it wet and still keep the fluffiness. February 22, 2013
