Men's Airshield MCZ Balaclava 4.5 5 2 2
Amazing in Arctic Winds I live in Nome, Ak and we have bitter wind and cold. I bought the air shield as a base layer under my snow machine helmet and it preforms flawlessly. In -20 degree temps and 40mph winds this thing kept the cold off my skin and kept me warm. I use it daily and couldn't be happier. The only thing that drives me nuts, is that it doesn't vent great so the condensation from your breath builds up. But thats expected. January 27, 2013
An almost-great balaclava I love how the material is light in weight yet dense and warm. And the "window" is small enough to be covered by my goggles leaving no patches at the cheekbone to come uncovered and get frostbitten, as compared to my prior combination of flexible semi-open-face balaclava and face mask. But the slots providing an airway are too small for adequate breathing during a climb. I want protection from a biting wind, but I still need unimpeded breathing. So I cut off the strip of material covering the mouth to make a bigger airway, and sewed it back onto the nosepiece, providing a larger deflector to help keep breath from rising up into my goggles. Much better now. January 2, 2013
