With many of our tents, you can create a functional shelter by using just the fly, the tent poles, and a Footprint (our accessory grommeted sheet that normally serves as protection for your tent’s floor). The resulting structure keeps off the rain, provides a fabric floor, and has tremendous ventilation at a fraction of the weight of the complete tent. The Pitch Light option is especially useful for fast-and-light, mild-weather trips. Some tents may require additional pole bindings at intersections and/or webbing support for struts and brow poles. These items are included in the appropriate Footprint package.

Bought the Hammerhead 2 tent a few months ago and tried getting by with an old pancho as a foot print. Decided that wasn't gonna work anymore so I ordered the right one from Mt. Hardware. It makes all the difference in the world. My only question is, why doesn't the footprint come standard with the tent?

Purchased the hammerhead 2 footprint for using the pitchlight setup on my hammerhead 2. Saved about half the weight and a lot more valuable space in my pack. I find the pitchlight setup sturdy enough for 3 season use.

Ordering the footprint for my Hammerhead 2 tent was a no-brainer. Keeping up with that 6mil. plastic one I used to use did keep the moisture out, but slipped, slid and was often misplaced between overnight trips to the woods. It fits like a dream, dries quickly after use and folds small enough to go in the same bag supplied with the tent. Like I said, a no-brainer. Well engineered and constructed.

Footprint is highly recommended for use on and off the tent! The pitch light option is amazing and cuts down 4 lb off of your weight! Who wouldn't get it!
